haha thats what i'm replacing its decently smooth but because of the quickfire trigger and lack of a true antireverse i have problems with my hookset as a result.

In that price range Shimano Sahara can't be beaten.

Good call...That anti-reverse can be tricky at times.

Step up to a Symetre for $79, it's worth the extra $.

I agree with RW on this one.  Especially if you can get away with the little 750.

Over the years I have owned spinning reels from "blister card" shakespeare's up to and including the Daiwa Steez.  My little $79 symetre is smooth, and relieable with no annoying spool wobble.  Very impressive for a 80.00 reel.

For 60 bucks , the sahara is what you want.

My favorite 60 buck reel is the PFLUEGER PRESIDENT  I love the 2 I have and they take a beating

Shimano has three good choices:

Sedona   $49.99

Sahara    $59.99

Symetre   $79.99

I have all three and can't complain about any of them can't really tell much difference either.

Yeah . I am a Daiwa guy, but I own a Symetre (old design) and I love it. It's worth the couple extra bucks !!!

I have 3 Daiwa Regal Z-s ($49.95) for about 6-7 years now, and I have NO complaints (model 2500 and 2000) And 2 Capricorns(2500 and 2000), but they are a bit higher priced. The Regals (2500) landed carp up to 16lb for me, drags worked geat. I don't know if the NEW Regal XI (39.95) are as good as the old ones ...I prefere the 2500 model for bass fishing !!! Front drag only.

You should go to a store, see how some Shimanos and Daiwas feel in your hands.

Look for Clearance/ Sale/other discounts or on e-bay for a better deal !

Hope that helps a bit...

I have both the Sahara and a old style Symtre. I would go with the Symtre it is a much better reel for $20 more.

got the symetre today feels smooth as butter love it got the 2500 series and can't wait to fish with it on my tournament Saturday any suggestions on a good flouro for it i was thinking seagar, its going on my senko rod a 6'6" MH loomis

bassin 1887,

Congrats on your reel, I think you will like it. I have one that is five year old and never had to do anything to it, I purchased another 4000 series Symtre Friady for inshore redfish and trout. I thinking about getting a 2500 series to replace my Sahara. I do not relly use flourocarbon. I recently switched to 20# Power Pro. I think Seagar would probably work, I going to get some to use a leader material.

Okuma Stinson SI30 or SI40 (7 bearings)...or, believe it or not, a Silstar Integra 30 or 40...NINE ball bearings and as smooth as silk w/a good drag system...

i use the sradic,my brother uses the symetre,my uncle uses the sahara and my cuz uses the sedona all 4 reels never gave us an issue and we beat the heck out of these reels, buy whichever one u can afford ;D

You made a good choice on the reel.  You asked about line, personally I would go with 12lb P-Line Floroclear.  It has a fluorocarbon coating, it is super tough, has low stretch and it casts exceptionally well.  Out of all the line I have tried, Floroclear is my favorite.
