baitcaster reel and rod.

Featured Replies

Ok guys and gals.  I'm going to BSP this friday to get a baitcaster reel an rod.  I'm looking to spend around $200- $250.  I want a good universal type pole.  Are BSP reels any good?  I'm not looking for answers that say for another 50 bucks you can get this.  I want to know what I can get for $200-$250 bucks that will do me good.  that for the rod and reel.  I'm looking to you guys and gals to be the ones to set me up.  Don't fail me!!!! ;D

thanks

If I were you, Id get a pro qualifier combo with a 7' mh stick for wormin and jiggin, and a crankin stick with a cheaper reel for crankbaits and other reaction type lures. There just isn't a rod made that does everything well. Split your 250 up, and maybe upgrade the cheapest thing in a year or two. The BPS reels are good for the money. They aren't chronarchs, but they aren't 250 just for the reel either. They last a long time if you take care of them.  :o

Pflueger Supreme on a BPS extreme rod(6'6" MH would be a good choice but I use All Stars and am not in a position to judge the quality if BPS rods although from what i hear they are great for the money) of your choice or on a pro qualifier but that might be getting a little close to 250 the Pflueger supreme is the best and smoothest reel that I have ever owned. JT Bagwell gives the Pflueger President a 10 out of 10 for quality and the supreme is a few notches above the president.

Supreme-130

Extreme-100

or Pro Qualifier-120

I'd go with the Curado/Pro Qualifier for $270, or the Citica/Extreme XPS for $170. I have four of the latter and am very pleased.

Fishin49er hit the nail on the head. That's exactly what I was going to say.

Seems like a couple of great suggestions at these pricng points.

How bout a Citica Reel($119) + Crucial Rod($129)? Lots of people like the crucial and the Shimano guys seem to like the Citica pretty well.
