Are you curious?

I’m as curious as most guys and sometimes I get let down and sometimes I am rewarded. I came across a video that perked my interest. What was it for? The Piscafun Alloy M2. The views and commentaries seemed credible. Well I pulled the trigger in spite of my physical limitations and I’m happy to say this was a winner.

I know I’m crazy to add another reel when my arsenal is already complete but I had an out if it didn’t meet my hopes. Honestly, I’m really impressed by this reel. Very impressed. I filled it with 12 lb mono and tied on a 5/16 ounce jig. Casting while wearing my restraint brace was a challenge but I was able to get a good feel for its performance. Again, I’m impressed. I like the smoothness of the gear train. I’m going out on a limb and rate this reel, durability aside as one of the best sub $100.00 reels out there. It reminds me of my Shimano Scorpion 70’s. The cast control is an inductor magnet control. Feels like a Tatula 100. I expect there will be more chatter in the weeks and months to come. One more option at a budget friendly price.

I really want to jump on this reel before the pricing gets crazy but I really don’t need another bait cast reel. Meanwhile the monkey has been sitting on my shoulder whispering in my ear….😬 I for one am looking forward to a review after you’ve pulled in a few hopefully slaunces with it.

My only Piscifun reels are fly reels. Very nice reels for the money. I wouldn't be afraid to try that reel if I needed another casting reel...which I don't.

Be sure to update your review after fishing it a couple months. It's always nice to find low cost alternatives.

I’ll need to determine what application I want to use it for. The spool has reasonable line capacity and it comes in with a 7.6 :1 ratio and 100mm handle. I see it as a good candidate for pitching and Texas rigs although it casts so well it could be a good Jerkbait or lipless reel. Time will tell.

I just passed up a used Piscifun Torrent reel for $19, and it can fill that empty spot!

I checked its specs.... it has triple cross weave carbon fiber drag washers too that claim 18lbs of drag.

Gotta love how easy these are to maintain too!

I kid you not! Actual sales photos...

If the seller had made the reel offer $15 I would have purchased it. An almost but not quite. I think I'll wait for a better model like the M2 Columbia Craw got that comes with a solid metal frame:

"The M2 features a lightweight 6.42 oz build, 18-22 lbs of max drag, micro-click tension knob, and 31 total brake settings."

Price was reduced to $79. And this reel claims 22lbs of drag! And 12 magnets for spool brakes! Not bad for under $100. I did notice the pour in the oil port is now gone.

I'd give one of these a try if the price is right. Thanks for mentioning it Columbia Craw. I'm keeping an eye out for one now.
