iCast 2026

Is anyone else excited about iCast 2027? I imagine it will be dominated by urchin baits and urchin bait rigs.

But I've heard rumors of new, more powerful kayak motors that will be unveiled this week, as well as a lot of new kayak accessories including streamlining electronics and lighting.

Not really. I cast is just the fishing elite getting together teasing about what will be available. Is that flux jet thing from last year even being produced yet?

I heard on a podcast that Flux Jet has fulfilled a few orders, but then again no one out there is providing any real world feedback.

Personally, I did not understand the hype about FluxJet as a fishing platform and in the back of my mind I thought it was vaporware.

I was about to sell my AP, but some (good) things happened recently that caused me to delay listing it and buying the XTR/Garmin Force Current setup. Maybe something coming out at iCast will make me change my mind on that setup.

I've seen several baits that I'm excited about, and not just urchins, although there are some of those in the mix. I know they're goofy looking, but they sure do catch bass and I wouldn't hate them being easier to get or having more options. The Crush City version looks really nice. Strike King has a finesse/BFS glide that shimmys on the fall that looks like it would be fun. Big Bite Baits has a couple new plastics that I like the looks of. It's more exciting than last year when everyone was introducing their scoping minnows.

@Kayak Koz didn’t it win like best new product? I don’t think it’s commercially available yet could be wrong. If it’s not just proves my point icast is nothing more than a who’s who get together.

Baits that have caught my eye:

Vision 110 +2 Jr.

6th Sense Bodega Jig

Z-Man TRD Finesse Jig

Big Bite Baits Flat Tube

CrushCity Knuckle Bug

CrushCity Inspector

D STYLE Geelacanth

Great Lakes Finesse Skirted Ned Head

Z-Man ZWG Gaff Worm Hook

From the Flux Jet Kayak website: Orders shipping January 2026 thru October 2026 are now sold out.
New orders scheduled to ship in November 2026.

Looking at the preview, I see more to be excited about than last year, I think I might give the following baits a try:

Daiwa Mr. Fortune

Vision 110 SSR

Both these baits fill a need of fishing above those weed beds that aren't quite to the surface but are high enough that a lot of those "3-4ft" range baits get hung up. If they are truly capable of staying within 2ft these would be big in the fall for me.

Rapala Stryder 180: The interchangeable weights to change sink rates on the fly is intriguing

Savage Gear Scandal: Sure it's a blatant shot at the Deps SS, but that tail design makes me think it could be fished more aggressively and stay stable. My only gripe with the Deps is fishing it faster it tends to nose up and rise to the surface.

Looks like Z-man is trying to get ahead of the tungsten supply chain issues and is coming out with the "Forge" flipping weights using some sort of "alloy". Will have to see what kind of density they are able to yield with that.

I'm interested in the re-tooled Daiwa BG, I have one that I use saltwater fishing and it's a work horse. The new ones are lighter, though more expensive.

Good friend of mine has a Flux Jet on order, he's not sure when delivery will be.

Interested in checking it out and getting feedback from him.

It did. I do give them points for innovation. I just don't think it will be a great fishing platform.
