Any idea how old this Dobyns extreme HP is?

Featured Replies

I’m looking to buy this rod on market place. But it looks really old. The locking nut doesn’t say Dobyns on it.

IMG_1591.jpeg11 to14 years. It looks like the cork handle still has the plastic on it. The lock nut on this series does not have Dobyns on it. I have four of those pre HP models. It’s still under warranty.

Thanks for the info. I was guessing at least it was 10 years old.. you think it’s a good buy for $200? Would the warranty transfer to me?

The rod should transfer to you. Read the terms of warranty on their site. The price is fair depending on overall condition. Glad to help.

I read it, looks like I can do the “no hassle replacement” for a few. Have you ever done a replacement with them? Did they ask for a receipt?

I've had them replace a rod without a receipt with no issues.

IIrc they ask you to send in the section of the rod blank with all the specs on it as proof of destruction. Or something like that.

I only own one Dobyns, a fury, and it's still in one piece so no firsthand experience.

Looks like the handle may have molded a bit under the plastic. If so, no big deal. Unwrap it, and sand it with fine grade sandpaper.
