High end  $ surface poppers

Featured Replies

Hello I have a friend with an up-coming birthday

we both enjoy fishing on the surface for bass

I was thinking I should get him a fancy $ priced top water popper lure

any opinions on which is best - megabass, rico, lucky craft

we tend to throw 1/4 oz top waters

any color suggestion will be appreciated

thank you

Shadrac

(I throw Smithwick Wood Chugs that I buy from Ebay)

Thanks for all the information

this is the kind of lure his wife does not want him to have so I thought it would make a good gift

no votes for Rico?

they get a lot of press

thanks

Rico bone color my #1 topwater bait

Lucky craft sammy.  Once you can walk the dog, that is my favorite.

Rico

Pop Max

Lucky Craft G-Splash, this bait pops, spits, and walks the dog and it drives the fish crazy.

It's a tough call, but I have a

rico in bleeding shad - outstanding, bass have literally jumped clear out of the water to engulf it mouth first on the dive. amazing

rio rico (bigger size) bleeding shad - average to good.

pop - x - forget the japanese names.  black/silver - good

pop - x - gold with craked white belly - very good

pop max - frog - excellent, definitly catches bigger bass and draws alot of strikes.

PS - The pop max scores an A++ as a gift.  The packaging is like a display case.   for that reason alone it would make a beautiful, impressive gift.

throw in the fact that it catches them big bassies and it's a no brainer.

That 's an easy one ( I also recomend the Pop Max: Tonosama Frog or CMF ( mracked mattè frog )), get the bait, wrap it as a gift and give it to him on his B-day right in front of the enemy.  ;)

To all who recommended the Pop Max...thank you

Because you can't buy one for your friend without having one for yourself

I tend to like darker top water baits so I bought the Midnight Bone color

Yesterday he caught two three pounders on the frog color

and I got lucky with a 4.5 lb largemouth on my color

for a small lake in Ohio that is a darn good day

they are great baits

thanks again

I have been eyeballing those TD Mouthwashers.  How do you like them?

The only time I used the TD mouthwasher I caught a 4Lber in a lake I struggle at! so yeah I'd say I like it- the thing makes a lot of comotion in the water! If you like poppers you will like the TD mouthwasher
