Good all around rod for less than 100$$???

Featured Replies

My friend's girlfriend is looking to buy him a rod for 100$ tops for christmas and I said let me ask the experts.

He likes to fish plastics the most but would be best off with something that would be good all around.

Thanks

Cory

Falcon® Original Series Graphite Trigger Rods

Daiwa®-S Bass Trigger Rods

St. Croix® Premier® Series Trigger Rods

I second the Diawa S rod. I own 2 and they havent broken like my Light and Tough which cost more...

Shimano Compre casting   $89.00

CPC66MHB 6'6" Medium Heavy Fast

Shimano Compre Spinning...

CPS66MHB 6'6" Medium Heavy Fast

For $90 these are nice sticks.  Fairly light, very sensitive and good looking rods with decent components.  Limited lifetime warranty is a nice touch.

I have a Compre CPS X63MB  6'3" Medium/X-Fast spinning and this power/action does not come close to being acceptable as an "all arounder".  It is a true "sissy" stick that I will use for Finesse applications only.  If you want "all arounder" from the Compre lineup, you need MH/F.

I apologize for not specifying, casting rod.

Thanks for the help, aren't the holidays great?

"All arround" rod for bass fishing. There is no such thing.Deppends what kind of bait/lurre he likes to fish mostly.

If I'd have to pick one single rod to take with me to an unknown lake, it would be 6'-6" MH power, fast action. It would be tough to fish fast mooving baits /treble hook lures. Definitely difficult to cast light lures, but good with 1/4-1/2 oz baits(plastics, jigs); slow presentation. Some spinnerbait, buzzers, "light" frogging....

Most reputable brand make good rods at that price range.Fenwick, St Croix, Daiwa, Shimano, Falcon,All Star,etc.....Just try to find the best deal.

Does he have a "favorit" brand ???? Shimano guys like Shimano tackle, Daiwa guys like Daiwa tackle...you know what I mean !!!

Good luck

All Star American Classic AC SBR2 - 6'8" medium Heavy/Fast action.  Fantastic rod, great looking, Fuji reel seat and Fuji aluminum oxide guides.  This rod is very sensitive and tough as nails.  MADE IN THE USA.  About $90.

The AC SBR2 is specified as a spinner bait rod, but I use it as an all around rod for spinnerbaits, plastics, jigs, even swim baits and occassionally frogs.

He is sponsored (Not by Shimano)

The extreme from BPS os a great value and they are on sale now.

If you can still find one, the old St. Croix Avid has been on clearance going for around $100.

My other choice would be a BPS Extreme.  Nice rod for the money.

Yeah, a couple of weeks ago you could have bought the Avid AC68MXF at Reed's for that price (with free shipping). Be patient and maybe you can find this rod somewhere else on sale.
