yo-zuri hybrid

Featured Replies

Im going to give yo-zuri hybrid line a try on a couple of my rigs this year. Im going put some 8lb test on a spinning rig and 12lb on a baitcasting rig. My question is should i go with the ultra soft on the spinning reel? Also for those that use this line which knot works the best for tying to hooks and lures?  Thanks

2x what Paul says.

Roadwarrior...where are you?

Sounds like a good set to me.  If you can wait till spring and BPS should have 1/4lb spools of regular Hybrid on sale for about $6.  That's 1000yards of 6lb for $6.

BPS doesn't stock that any longer.  Last year's prices were one time only.

I use ultra soft on both spinning (#6) and baitcasting (#12) and am very pleased. I use green. I use the palomar knot and have never had a problem.

When using any fluoro, while tying your knot always wet it. :D

Both original formula Hybrid and Ultra Soft are a bonded (not coated) fluorocarbon/ nylon copolymer. You can tie whatever knot your like, a special knot is not rquired. I generally tie a Palomar Knot, but an improved Clinch, San Diego Jam, Uni or Trilene Knot will work just fine.

Tin and I were out a few times this year and he kept asking how I liked the Yo Zuri ultra soft. I said that it was pretty good, but even when I wet the knot real well, it will still break once in a while when you cinch it down. I think I showed him 4 knots in a row that would break when cinched down slowly. Then, at other times, it will be fine.... just me....

I don't have a clue. It never has happened to me.

Line strength and knot strength are simply not an issue.

Forgot about that, thanks for the correction Burley.

But ya, I did witness the strange knot tying issues with it. Very strange, and I have heard other reviews and other people saying the same thing. Overall it isn't a terrible line. Just check your knots I guess :D
