To those of you who use round BC reels, what is your favorite?

Also what applications do you prefer them for or do you use them for everything?

Just looking for some info as I am thinking of buying 2 Calcutta 100B for cranking reels.

I don't have a Calcutta, I am an Abu Garcia fan myself. I have several favorites of the round reels depending on application. I love the C4 series and the new Records for jigging and worms. I love the older 5000 and Morrums for cranks and spinnerbaits. I have a fond place for the C3(catfish pullers) and the Rockets. I even like the low profile Revos and use them for everything. Some like the EXTs and D6s. I think which ever one you choose, whether it be Shimano, Diawa, or Abu, you would be happy and have a great reel. I personally would recommend the 5600C4 as a first round BC.

pflueger trion round reels are the best deal out there in round reels.

I initially bought this reel exclusively for striper fishing: relatively small, but strong as an ox! In addition to strength, it is smooth, perfectly balanced and can cast medium and heavy weights a country mile. This is a reel that I expect to own forever.

I have one CTE200GT matched up with a G. Loomis GLX MBR844C.

This is my jig rod.

The other reel is saddled to a Lamiglas SR705R.

This rig is for big treble hook lures and especially, deep divers.

I would rate this reel a dead solid 10.

I have 3 Calcutta's & 2 Cardiff's which I use for every thing from Wacky Worms to Swim Baits  

If you want something more affordable I would look into the shimano cardiffs. I have one and its relatively light weight. I dont know about the regular calcuttas because for the price I'd much rather go w/ the Daiwa lunas because of the solid aluminum frame.

The calcutta te are really nice. I have the 401 and it is pretty tough. The HEG are nice. but for the price, I think looking back I would get a daiwa luna instead. Let us know what you decide.

My favorite round reels, and the only ones I still use all the time, are Daiwa Millionaire CV-X103's. Daiwa discontinued these, and replaced them in their lineup with the Luna. If I ever wear out the ones I have, I wouldn't hesitate on a Luna as a replacement.

I gotta say, the Calcutta TE's are sweet. I used a friend's one day, and didn't want to give it back.

I have 3 Daiwa Millionaires, a CVX 103 A, CVX203A CVZ253A and 3 Shimano calcuttas (2) 100B's and a 200B.

I don't have a preference as to one over the other.Both brands work extremely well. Ivan

I have an older 251 Calcutta and it has been bullet proof me.  It is just a solid reel, no issues what so ever.

I agree. I have a couple myself along with a 50. Awesome reels that seem bullet proof!

Two Calcutta 151's and two 251's.  The 251's are used for steelhead fishing (15-20 lb. fish), the 151's are my smallmouth casting reels (also have a couple spinning reels).  The Calcuttas are bullet proof!  I regularly cast 3/16-1/4 oz gear with the 151's.
