What do you use to cut braided line?

Featured Replies

I have been having trouble cutting braided line. Every time i cut it, it ends up fraying so what do you use.

Good quality, small scissors.

I have a razor sharp pocket knife that I use most of the time. I also have a set of needle nose with cutters that make clean cut.

I use the rapala braid scissors.  They work good for me.  I remember some guys on here using the little kid scissors and liking them

My teeth   lol. No I use some nice sharp sissors.

My EX's tongue, works quite well even over the speakerphone of my cell phone...I gotta be careful though, it melts my plastics if they are nearby ;D

Get the Fiskar school sciccors at Wally World.  Also the cutter off a box of dental floss works well---Power Pro now has one on their box.

I took the cutter off a Power Pro box drilled holes in the tabs on each side, ran a zip lock tie through the holes and attached it to my seat post on the boat----always handy and cuts mono as well.

I use the Fiskar's kids' scissors, available at about $2 (Wal-Mart price) in almost any stationery supplies department.

I use a small pair of titanium scissors from wally world.  Super sharp, work great on braid or whatever and they don't rust because of the Ti content. I think they cost about $5 or $6.

Plus I use the to trim weed guards, jig/spinnerbait skirts, plastic baits, etc.

I have X-tools with tungsten carbide cutters. They do a good job and float. Theyre around $8-$12.

Don't know much about braided line but I really like a good set of finger nail clippers for my line. Really clean cut and fast and easy. Mike

Mike - If you ever start using braid, be sure and have something besides clippers to cut it.  They just fray it and don't cut it clean at all.  Sort of like a dog gnawing on a rawhide bone---you will get it cut eventually, but not real neat.

X2

I was just using a lighter for awhile. I just light the end and put it out with my fingers.

Thanks for the heads up and I'll remember that. My wife gave me a neat little pair of fold-up scissors that are super sharp that I keep in my tacklebox. Mike
