Line for my BC Reel

Featured Replies

I am just learning the BC reel now. I am interested to see how many people use which kind of line in there reel. So please tell me what kind or reel you use with the lb test and type of line. Rite now I have 10lb mono. It works great so far but I have just started. While your at it could you let me know what the reel sits on and what you use it for the most. Thanx to all

Well I switched all my line to Yo Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft this year and am very happy with it so far.  My first rig is an Abu Garcia 5500 C3 on a BPS 6'6" medium crankin stick with 12lb Yo Zuri.  I use this for my crankbaits and topwaters.  My second is an Abu Garcia Silver Max on a Daiwa Procyon 6'6" heavy rod with 12lb Yo Zuri.  I use this for jigs and frog baits.  My last is an Abu Garcia Revo S on a BPS Extreme 6'6" medium heavy rod with 12lb Yo Zuri.  I use this for pretty much everything else....spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, buzzbaits, rattletraps, etc.

They are nothing fancy but get the job done.  Hope this helps!

do you use a braided line?

No, all I use is the yo zuri hybrid ultra soft and its a fluorocarbon and nylon blend.

Sharkbait, boo haha

What power and action rod do you have?  What techniques do you fish most?

I fish rock and grass cover the most.

Right now I have these going:

Casting

7' Heavy Fast with braid.  Frog/pitching/mattlures baby bass

7' MH Xfast 15 lb berkley pro grade flouro. T-rig, light jig, spinnerbait, traps, plastics

7' M fast to moderate fast 12 lb something, probably going to try green hybrid ultrasoft.  crankbaits, buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, traps, topwater, trebled moving baits

6'6 M fast to moderate fast, 10 lb suffix siege mono. jerkbaits, cranks, topwater

Spinning:

6'6 M F 10 lb flouro.  lures too light for my baitcasting capabilities, finesse/weightless plastics

6' ML 6 lb flouro.  finesse plastics

Well I am actually just starting out again. Muddy turned me on to bassin. So I have alot goin threw my head and plenty of questions. I am goin to fish alot of bridges in the river plus grass beds. THANX 2 ALL

Try 12 lb test suffix siege.  It is abrasion resistant and handles well.  Affordable doesn't hurt.  Re spooling a few times this season while just getting started isn't out of the question either.  This line handles backlashes well, but isn't invincible.

Ok I'll check it out. Now how do I put my line further past the structure I'm fishing w/ the BC reel it seems like it will only go the same distance all the time. What do I do increase my power but I am afraid of getting a birds nest.

I keep it simple:

Spinning gear: #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test)

Baitcasting gear: #12 Ultra Soft, (19.5 lb test)

8-)

Quantum Accurist, 30lb PowerPro, 7' MH Bionic Blade - Spinnerbaits, Crankbaits, and Heavy Topwater

Plfueger Supreme (Round Baitcaster), 40lb PowerPro, 7' Heavy Extreme, Frogs and Jigs

Anything light, I use spinning tackle for. (Which also has braid, 20lb PowerPro.)

I only use braid and if you're fishing around a lot of grass you may want to try it out. Some love it and some hate it.... :)

I presently use 4 baitcasting setups. All the reels are Daiwa TDA Advantage 150A or 153 HST's.

Jigging setup: 50 lb Power Pro with a leader

Crankbaits: 30 lb Power Pro with a leader

Spinnerbaits/Buzzbaits/topwater: 30 lb Power Pro no leader

Wt'd plastics: 30 lb Power Pro no leader
