I'm wondering who owns and uses a 783 or 843 and what specific technique(s) you use it/them for.

I have an 843 and use it for t rigs and small jigs

I have both the MBR783 & MBR843 (both in IMX version).  I use the MBR783 for mostly spinnerbaits and the MBR843 for tubes and soft jerkbaits.  

I have the MBR843.  I was using it with my Abu Premier, #12 mono.  I now have my Chronarc 50 mg on it with #12 mono.  I use it with Flukes or small plastics like 6" worms and 1/8 ounce weight or lighter. Mostly Flukes though.

P.S  I have a mint MBR844 IMX I will trade for another 843.

I'm using a MBR 783c GL3 for my worm rod , with a old Sweden Made 4600..

Have been using that model since 92' when there where made out of IM6..Broke a couple (never on a fish)..But my dealer always replaced it,

had to Pro rate the last one..

I have both and I was wondering if anyone eles feels that they feel a lot different? besides the length I feel that the 843 is a lot stiffer then the 783.

I am still experimenting on which rod will work better for what kind of application.

I have the IMX 843 that I use for anything that I fish on the bottom up to say a 3/4 oz jig or carolina rig, anything bigger than 3/4 oz, I go to a heavy action rod. It's one of my favorite rods....got it paired with a Revo Premier.

The IMX is plenty sensitive as I'm sure you know, but if you've got the extra $$$, by all means, go GLX.

What were you considering throwing with it?  

I have the 783 in IMX and it is my favorite rod. I have it paired with a TD-Z-balances very well. I actually use this rod for nearly anything-definitely think this is a great all around rod. With that being said, I usually have a jerkbait or topwater tied on.

I have the MBR 783 GLX and it is sort of like a magic wand.  It's extremely light and sensitive.  I works great for soft plastic and crankbaits upto 1/2oz.  I have tried it for light jigs but prefer my BCR 803 GLX for that applications.  I have also used it for spinnerbaits as well but it's overkill.  I wouldn't consider it a good rod for Carolina Rigs the MBR844C is better suited for that application.  I would say it would make a great general purpose rod.

My 783 IMX is my magic wand. It is the one rod that is always with me on a trip. I use it primarily for jigs and t-rig plastics, but when needed I use it for everything. Like a few others, if you have the money, go ahead and get it in GLX.

The 783 is my fav. spinnerbait rod.  I also use it for tubes.

The 843 is my jig from 1/4 oz to 1/2 oz rod and buzzbait rod.

I also have a imx 783 mounted with a supertuned daiwa 100 and normally run 12-14 lb test on it.I use it for worms and jig,pig combos but i seldom use worms over 6" or jigs over 3/8 oz,also if i see stripers i will tie a hopkins spoon on it or a bucktail jig.I for one am likely to use lighter action rods than heavier actions with the size baits i use.

What were you considering throwing with it?

I actually posted this for another reason...  I'm considering building a few travel rods but wasn't sure which of those 2 rods would be my prototypes...

When I was still building on the loomis blanks, this is what I was using these lengths and powers for.

783's - up close medium jigs and worms.

843's - deep water C-rigs, heavy cover T-rigs, and Jigs.

You mention travel rods are these going to be one piece systems?

Thanks.  I am leaning towards 3 or 4 pc. rods, but for now, I'm limited to a handful of blank manufacturers.  (may investigate ferrule making down the road)

I will be making a couple 1 pc and 3-4 pc, like models, for side by side testing.  I want to satisfy some curiosities about multi piece blanks before I commit to very much.

Yeah I hear ya.

Prototyping and field testing was always the fun part of building for me.

Now it's wrapping (cause I can't stand for very long anymore)...
