Spy photos?  Sure thing with TT's relationship with Shimano.

::)

Anywho, I like what I see.

Bahh! Thats just some random dude casting his Bass Pro Shops Extreme baitcaster. Looks like he switched the handle though. :)

If it is the new Curado, they must be losing their .... on the Curado's out right now to be going back to the green reels, trying to bring back that magic.

Actually,

That's Jeremy Sweet.  Reel Product Manager for Shimano.

  • Super User

That's Jeremy Sweet alright.

But just because TT says it doesn't make it so, that could be an older photo of him out with the Prototype of the core or any reel for that matter.... ::)

This translates to nothing more than rumor, that's all.  8-)

I think he's testing the new green Revo wondering how Shimano will ever top that.

Seriously though, is that a brake adjustment device on the left side of the reel or just sun glare?

That look says "please spread the rumor, we need the hype!"

Yeah, thats a spy photo alright. Fishing on a floating billboard with a cameraman onboard 8-). AND the source is TT, the National Enquier of fishing sites.

I already busted Tackle Tour's balls about this.  It is clearly a joint effort between the two to drum up interest in the new Curado's release.   Here is what I posted on their message boards...

"I had to chuckle when I saw the 'Spy Shots' and article...like some random person was on a hillside or in another boat, and for some unknown reason had an inkling to snap pics of a reel another angler was using. Tackle Tour also just happened to be the one and only site he decided to give the pics to as well...how lucky are you guys?! Seriously though, it screams 'joint effort' between TT and Shimano. It's a good idea to drum up some interest in it's re-release though."

No response from the staff.  It's not a rumor Reelmech...it's a joint collaboration doing everything except spellling it out.  Shimano Flew the Tackle Tour gang out to Mexico for a nice vacation to test out the Shimano Core and Cumara rods.  *sigh*  Not sure if I can trust the TT Shimano reviews anymore.  This was pointed out a while back by some other members.  I don't think Consumer Reports would let Toyota fly them out to Cabo to drive a new Camry, and it should be the same for any independent tester.

TackleTour "National Enquirer" !  LMAO  I always check their site but to me they have never been Shimano guys.  More like exclusively Daiwa.  Maybe obsessed with cork knob handles.  An like the national fishing club, they never review a product they dont like.

It may be Jeremy Sweet fishing with a Daiwa so he knows what a quality reel feels like.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Bring it on Posse

I hope that the new curado line will still be made in japan.

hope you're right but, somehow, see malaysia written all over this.

yea i agree with Natural ... thats the new CU ,, shimano didnt sell the amount of reels they did in the past ... IMO the cu was the reel that slowed in sales .... so i bet they drop the price of this reel .... it very interesting ....  :)

I agree with that.  Spin the hype to fever pitch and then limit production to claim a sell out and the fever rises some more.  Ah...it's just marketing.  I really would like to see a Curado that weighs 8 oz and sells for $150 though.  I like Shimano but they need to make some changes before I will buy any new Curado's again. (I'll buy Castaic's though!)  I'm looking forward to what they do here.

I really hope its like the old Bantam Curados.  Wish they still made them and still hate shimano for discountinueing them. sigh.
