Is the 2-piece version of the same rod LESS sensitive than the 1-piece version?  Been trying to find the answer to this question for the longest time.

No perceptible difference that I can notice between two equal rods one being a single piece the other being a 2 piece.

What's more noticeable usually is the 2 pc version is tip heavy and out of balance compared to the 1 pc.

 I have no problem with two piece rods ( cept when they come apart and I have half a rod in my hand and the other out there with my lure lol   8-)) but a one piece definitely gives you a feel advantage.

The only rod I have that isn't one piece is my travel rod. Over the years, I've had two rods break at the ferrel. It won't happen again. As far as sensitivity, I couldn't say, because I only used crankbaits and live bait back then.

I would say the vast majority of people would never notice the difference.

I just got my first few one peice rods and think there are some definite benefits.  I don't know if the difference in sensitivity exists or is noticible to a person.  I do think it is more convienent to have one peice rods if storage and transortation isnt an issue.  First, you dont need to worry about the rod getting stuck together or falling appart, and the guides are always perfectly lined up.  I think all my rods from now on will be one peice.

I have wondered about the difference between 1 and 2 pc rods myself and good to read some of the answers. All my rods are 2 pc and as someone mentioned for ease for transportation is the reason I use 2pc rods. All my rods have balancing systems made for them as well with the exception of my Cabelas Mag Touch.

I will be getting my first 1 pc rod this year as well just to try one out

4 pieces fly rods still have great sensitivity

All my BC rods are 1-piece and my spinnings are 2-pieces. When I fish my dad, we fish live bait so I don't bring my BCs along.

I never noticed a huge difference with sensitivity but I stopped using 2 piece rods a couple years ago. I got sick of them coming apart during casts and fish fights lol.

I've never had too much of a problem with my rod coming apart. I always use my 2-piece rod because of transport. It makes it nice to not worry about someone stealing it out of the bed of my truck or something. It's locked away in my toolbox in my truck, along with my tackleboxes.

I actually have the top half of a spinning outfit at the bottom of my local lake. The line broke and the top part of the rod went flying!!! I still have one two piece spinning rod, but am thinking of getting a one piece as I never want that to happen again. BTW my hands are pretty dead due to neuropathy so I can't really appreciate a sensitive rod >

I really like my 2-piece Avid, but I do find myself using my other rods a little more lately. In terms of sensitivity, I don't notice much of a difference if any. I got it mainly for backwoods stuff, where a 1 piece would be bouncing around in the truck mercilessly or hitting branches left and right. I honestly couldn't ask for a better rod for that. ;D

I'd have been in there with some goggles or something if that happened to me.  

Bought a BPS pro tourney or something like that, and believe it or not, it's one of my favorite spinning rods.  Really fast tip and has plenty of backbone.  First day out with it caught an 8 1/2 pounder and have caught several nice stripers on it and it's really performed beyond my expectations!
