Anyone ever heard of Cabela XML brand rods?

Featured Replies

I'm a die hard bass guy. I want to replace my 3 Berkley Lightening rod with something better. Some options under $100 are:

  • Berkley Shock series, Rick Clunn Bass Pro series, and Team All Star.

I also ran across this one on clearance at Cabela's, (Reg. $139 on clearance for $29, model C66WJ).

I need 2 MH (worm rods) and 1 M (crankbait) rod.

Your help is appreciated!

Ahh, ok I see that post now. Just wondering if they are really good. I put 3 "in my cart" and they want $40 shipping. Gosh. So, you guys are happy with these rods? ;)

I have a total of 5 now with the one I just ordered today and it will be 6 in a couple weeks. I have 4 spinning and 1 BC and I'm very pleased with the spinning models and the Cabelas warranty. Normally like you said they are $139 but on clearance for next years models. I like the blanks, the actions and very sensitive. I have heard others say they are a bit heavy but I don't feel that way (guess its all the gym time).

I have 4 spinning as I said a 6'6" M rig/jig,6'6" M,7' ML and 7'MH.

I just ordered the 6'6" MH worm/jig which is my first 1 pc rod.

If you can have them shipped to the store and pick them up there you will save the $40 in shipping charges

I own 10 of these rods and am very pleased with them.  I used their "weight balance kit" to balance the rod right at the reel seat and they feel very weightless (it seems odd adding 2 ounces to the end or your rod to make it feel lighter, but it seems to work).  I think you will be pleased and the XML rods have the most comfortable reel seats you'll ever hold (I wish all my G Loomis rods had these reel seat)

if you pay for the rods to be shipped to your house, you get a nice rod tube they normally sell for $30 and you get the nylon rod covers which i have never gotten when i bought them in store... btw the cabelas rods are very sweet. they are worth the price even when they arent on sale.

I didn't get a tube or nylon sleeve with my XMLTi, but I still think it is a great rod.  Unfortunately, a lot of the models are back up to full price or sold out.
