KVD line & lure

Featured Replies

How do you guys use KVD Line & Lure when spooling up for the first time? How about after that when fishing?

Don't quote me on it, but I believe the bottle says something along the lines of the best time to use it is when you first spool.  It was either that, or on some show I caught it on.  That being said, I've sprayed it on freshly spooled reels and let it dry overnight like the directions suggest.  You can just spray it on while fishing as well.  I love this stuff, I'll probably pick up another bottle or two when I re-spool all my saltwater gear.

My best results are spraying it several times as I spool a reel, then respray the night before trip. Have been very happy with the results when I do this.

I spray a spot on a cloth and hold the cloth to keep the line tight as I spool line onto the reel and occasionally spray the spool. Then spray the night before I go fishing.

Anyone else use the cloth method? I was considering this but did not know if it wasn't necessary.

I use YoZuri Hybrid Ultrasoft...don't need it.. :)

I did use the KVD on mono however.

I spray the line spool before and again as i'm spooling my reel.

For the first use, apply it and let it dry fully.  This is usually accomplished by applying it at least the night before, if not earlier.  After that, you can spray it on while fishing.

Pretty sure Rob Faddis (owner/producer) recommends that you spray it on and that you dont use a cloth to apply the product.

I believe it allows cloth fibers to adhere to your line while spooling.

That's not good I'm going to have to stop doing that.  :-[

I haven't really noticed anything wrong with my line though. That's weird when I was first looking into getting this stuff that is the way everyone else said they did it. Either way, thanks for the heads up!

i believe the bottle says to use a cloth NOT COTTON when first spooling.  turning and spraying cloth as needed

i use an old dress sock and it works fine....

also sprayed spool a couple times as spooling...and now spray the night before..

how long does a bottle last you guys? If it can get it at a good price should I get a few bottles of it?

I wonder if anyone tried this. I have thought about doing it myself but haven't got around to try it.. Get 2 bottles and pour them into a shallow container with a cover (big enough to cover a spool of line but not too big that you need 4-5 bottles!!!) Put the new spool of line in the container and let it sit overnite to absorb the KVD and let dry the next day and then spool up your reel!!!!

Depends on how much you fish..I treated 2 reels, 1 2500 spinning, and a low pro baitcaster, plus I sprayed it on the rod guides..I fished at least 3 times a week, and 1 bottle lasted about 6mos. Although I didn't use it every trip.

When I used KVD conditioner..I just sprayed the spool's the night before, I soaked em pretty good, doin so, the conditioner will seep down to line you won't even use...KISS..works.. :)

In regards to using a cloth, it is fine to do so, just use a synthetic material. The polymers in L&L like to adhere to natural fibers and you won't get the full benefit of the product.
