Does anyone have an opinion on the limpest monofilament?

Trilene XL, especially in the smaller diameters.

The limpest mono I 've fished with was Stren Magnathin ( don 't know if they even make it anymore ), sure it was limp but had absolutely no abrassion resistance.

Then comes the ever popular Trilene XL, very limp, very little abrassion resistance too, great for fishing places with little or no cover and non abrassive bottom composition.

Regular Stren is also very limp but as any limp line the abrassion resistance is low.

So you can have very limp but poor resistance to abrassion or resistant to abrassion but poorly limp.

You want both ? well, try copolymer but don 't over do it, above 10 lbs copolymer is as limp as a slinky.

Berkley XL or Sensation.

McCoy mean green and most of the co-poylmers.

Raul, Magnathin is still made, that is my choice for lipped crankbaits.

Trilene XL is an eXtreme Limp mono and generally a real fine line.  Not as tough as some but is very easy casting on spinning gear...

It's very easy to cast on baitcast as well. As others have mentioned, the trade-off is it is not abrasion resistant.

Trilene XL. I use it on all my rigs, baitcast and spinning ( 4, 8, 10, 12# test) except my heavy catfish rig. That gets Trilene XT (50# test).

trilene xl is great line.cheap and simple.i mite add it has never let me down,with some other well known more expensive lines have let me down.

Cortland Plion. Don't even know if they make it anymore, but it was almost the consistency of jelly LOL.

Another vote for Stren MagnaThin.

Like all others have said Trilene XL is great but I also have found that Ande Back Country in 8lb and 10lb is really limp and has descent abrasion resistance.

i hope you pee your pants laughing!!!it is a really good mono line.they even make it in clear for all those close minded people who have a mental block against red.i have used it and caught tons of fish on it.red may not catch more fish but it certainly doesn't catch less.

It makes good backing.  Calling it a limp line elicits my  response.

red cast is limp.the other lines such as advantage and red lightening are not limp.

In my limited experience I've found Gamma CoPoly to be as manageable as Trilene XL (or better )

I have been using BPS Excel mono in green for 8 years now on the Potomac in 8, 14 and 20lb and found it to be a great mono.  The 4-10lb is $8.99 for 1500 yds, the 12-17lb is $9.99 for 1200 yds and the 20-30lb is $10.99 for 900 yds.  If you order any two spools  you get both for $7.99.  I fish it in some pretty fierce junk and it has never failed me.  Limp and strong.
