What type of line would yall recommend for jigs in general. also i hate braid but am willing to try a good brand.

I am am experimenting with some different lines this year. I have 15# P-Line CXX on my heavier power rods, and I really like it. Compared to Yo-Zuri Hybrid 15# it is no contest. I am using KVD Line & Lure with all lines. It works well.

Jigs are so versatile and varied that all lines could be applicable. Sensitivity is key so use the thinnest lines you can get away with for the weight of the jig (and hook size). Remember that FC's sink, braid's float, and CoP's float until they soak in some water then become neutral to slightly negatively buoyant.

I use:

-FC for depths ~>6ft

-Braid w/ either a FC or abrasion resistant CoP leader.

I do not use straight nylon/CoP much -for subsurface lures anyway.

Don't worry too much about brands. There are so many good ones now, and I'll let others here sell you on what they like. I'm still using Trilene XT and still think it's a marvel. But I'm old school and know there are better formulas out there now.

Pick a diameter and go to town. For skirted bass jigs I'd suggest going with .012 up, depending on amount of cover you have to deal with.

For around lilly pads and heavy grassy cover I use Power Pro 50lbs braid, if I am around rocks and timber then I use Berkley 100% fluorocarbon in 15lbs test.

I prefer floro for jigs and worms. When fishing around grass I like braid(not very often). Floro is dense enough to transmit more feel to your rod, over mono or copoly.................Al

For most jig fishing, I prefer 15# fluoro over braid. 90% of my jig fishing is around deeper weedlines, rocks, and docks. If I fished them around shallow, heavy weed cover more often, I would use #50 braid thats blacked out with a marker as I do for frogs and heavy flipping. It slices through the weeds better, and it's visibility disadvantage isn't as big of a deal in the shade of a heavy weed bed.

ive been using 40lb powerpro on my jig/frog rod. i like it.

ive had 15lb flouro or 15lb yozuri on my t-rig rod.

For braid..hands down Diawa Samuri..not cheap, but it's limp, there's no waxy build up, no breaking it in..cast's Great..I use the 55Lb..with a 12, or 15 lb yozuri leader. If I'm in real heavy cover, I'll use straight braid.

Berkley Big Game 15# Mean Green, hang it up & try to break it off you'll swear it's 50# 

I'm fishing braid on both my jig rods, no leader.  One one I'm fishing Power Pro 50, the other I'm fishing Samurai 55.  So far, I hate the Samurai.  I don't like anything about the line, much less why guys say it's the best braid in the world.  It tip wraps, it doesn't lay evenly, it digs into a tight spool on a hookset, it's probably the worst braid I've ever fished when it comes to being manageable.

PowerPro on the other hand is easily castable, moves near silent through Recoil guides, I've never had a wrap or wind-knot.  I've never had a problem with it laying on the spool evenly, or digging on a packed spool.

Regardless of which braid you're fishing you're definitely going to gain sensitivity in using braid over mono or fluorocarbon.

I'm a former PowerPro user who now uses 30-lb BERKLEY Fireline Tracer Braid (awesome stuff!).

All lures, hooks & jigheads are tied direct to the braid without any leader.

It seems that Tracer Braid helps bass to home-in on the lure 8-) ;D ;D

That's the majority of the reason I went to the Samurai.  I've got it on two rods ATM, a couple guys I fish with have it as well.  I'm surprised at the problems too, but it's consistent on both rods.  The other guys have been having issues similar to mine with it.  One of them has resulted in a 2 piece GLX.

took the rod out today and love the way it feels in my hands.  didnt catch anything so didnt get to feel it with a bass on the other end.
