I think I might finally order a CI4 for my DX702sf and can't decide if I need the 2500 or the 1000. I'm going to put 6lb flouro. The 2500 seems like it might be over kill, but I don't know. Thanks guys.

I have the 2500 and couldn't imagine anyone thinking it's over kill.  It's a small reel, alot smaller than the size 40 Pflueger and 30 quantums that I fish.  I have mine spooled with 8lb flouro-clear

X2 I have a 1000fh and tried 6lb trilene flouro and it was a nightmare!!!!

2500 for sure if you are bass fishing.  The reel is quite small for a 2500 size.

I've got 1 of each and love them. Both of them are actually pretty small. With the 1000 I like to split shot with 4 pound fluorocarbon. I also use it for crappie fishing. The 2500 has 6 pound fluorocarbon for drop shotting.

you should def consider a daiwa fuego 2000 or 2500 instead if you dont mind spending a lil more money for a better reel. Also consider the stradic 2500 mgfb as well, its smoother then the ci4 and only weighs a lil more. Are you buying a ci4 for the looks, its weight or cuz they are popular and other people are telling you to buy one ?

As were are talking Shimano I'd go with the 2500, it has more versatility, seeing as you are from N.C. you may do some light inshore fishing.  I have caught hundreds of snook & tarpon on 2000 series reels.

I'm buying because I held one in the store and haven't held another that I like better. I've already gone through the options and almost got a SOL instead but eventually decided on CI4. Thanks though.

I have 2 Sol 2500's and like the CI4 just as much as my Sol's.  You won't be disappointed in either.
