I need a rod under $150

Featured Replies

Ok I can get some stuff wholesale like I can get Daiwa L&T for $85 and Carrot Stix for $90. So I am saving up for a Revo S and need a rod for it, I have heard great things abt the Bass Mojo, Carrot Stix, Vendetta, Bucoo, Skeet Reese, and Carbonlite. So I know im never gonna get a straight answer so what rod should I get FIRST????

EDIT: Add Quantum Superlite ^^^^^

Buy the rod that is going to best fit the techniques that you will be using.

Bucoo. I own one and believe they are the better of the afore mentioned rods.

Ok ppl plz stick to the rods i have up there, cause those r the rods i cn get wholesale or have used and like, but i think for my first rod im gonna get either the Skeet Reese or Vendetta then get a Carrot Stix or Bucoo

I'd get the Skeet rod based on the free W&M tourney shirt alone.  Hands down winner.  ;)

You SHOULD get the rod free for purchasing the shirt....not a fan

From what you had listed I would say Vendetta or Superlite....the Carrot Stix and Bucoo are nice too.  It all depends on what you are gonna use it for

Ok are carrot stix, vendettas or Skeet Reeses and of those which is the best?

buying a rod based on a popularity contest is never, ever a good idea.

1. VENDETTA

2. CARROT STIX

3.SKEET REESE.

4.BUCOO.

Since you won't tell us what techniques you will be using , here is a list of what order to buy  for your fishing pleasure.

Im stuck on the Vendetta cause i can get them for $40 what is lighter 7'3" MH Vendetta or Worm/Jig Skeet Reese?

the Skeet Reese rod is a crankbait rod at best, not gonna be good for singlehooks...I'd say go for the Vendetta

Really, you need to go to a store that stocks the models you are looking at.  Pick them up and give each one a feel.  Lots of places will let you stick a reel on it if you ask them.  If not, bring your own.  Asking people here for opinions is great, you can try to narrow down your choices.  To get the best answer though, YOU need to handle them and make the decision based on which feels best for you.  Not everybody likes an uber light rod, some like a little more heft to them.

I have the skeet reese worm/jig rod, and love it.

It is excellent, I use it mostly as a spinnerbait/crankbait rod though.  I would also mention to take a look at some St Croix rods...

Thx for everyones input an im gonna check theese rods in my local store and unless the skeet reese is amazingly better feeling im gonna get the Vendetta

If you can get the Daiwa L&T for $85 you should get it. give them a test at the tackle shop. these rods have been around for a long time, and at $85 are a really good deal. i think they are much nicer than the other rods on the list. check them out. they are reasonably light, and i've used the frog rod for years, caught many fish with it, and it's as good as ever. i've also had the jig and worm rod for years now, and while i've 'moved up' with my rods, these rods are a really good deal at 85 bucks. at least check them out, and you'll feel what i'm talking about compared to the other rods on the list

I agree.. the L&T will out fish any of those other rods and is simply a HELL OF A ROD for that price. there is nothing fancy about the blank or guides but just a high quality well built rod that will fish really good for you.. in all truthfulness I fish my L&T Frog rod as much if not more then my Steez froger.. sure its a lot heavy but the L&T I can really lean in to with out fear of breaking it. and with a 8+OZ reel it balances nice and feels fairly light in hand...even tho its a heavier stick the balance nice...I have used the frog rod for punching really really nasty stuff where im scared of breaking my high end rods and with braid its sensitivity is fair and you will have no problem feeling strikes... plus you will love the feel of the reel seat...
