New reel poll (REVO added), I'm getting a citica

Citica...or as RW said, a good used Curado.. 8-)

The Revo is the best reel i have tossed.

It is also my most expensive- but I usually do not equate price to quality- it just happens to fit.

I had to vote for the Revo. It was the only reel listed that I've used, and I'm very pleased with it, and really like the way it casts lighter lures  :)

Cant believe Revo wasn't listed to begin with. Thats just crazy to leave off the best reel available.

You should have a look at the Cabela's Prodigy (Daiwa) too. Pretty darn slick reel for the price and performs nearly equal to my Revo SX (almost, not quite). Of those listed I'd choose the Citica.

I have a Cabelas Prodigy myself and it actually spends more time on the water than my Quantum Energy. I caught it on sale for $70 instead of the normal price of $100. It's a great reel and worth it at either price.

I tried to find it on cabela's site but its gone, did they stop making it? It seems like I just saw it on there a few weeks ago.

Geez....I just looked too and didn't see it.  I hope they didn't give up on Daiwa!!   I'll admit though I'd really like to see some Cabela's labeled Revo's again.  If you are near a Cabela's go look and see if they have any left.  I'm going to do just that after work tomorrow and add another Prodigy spinning reel to my collection while I'm there.

It may be crazy, and I know its a good reel, but it still is a little out of the price range, but I put it on there to humor some people and just for a few sh!@s and giggles.

another vote for the citica.

I can understand the out of price range part, just not sure about the sh!@s and giggles ::)

LOL, I can  understand that, I figured since the poll had been going so long that the REVO added in wouldn't show its true numbers.

What revo model are you referring to? The only comparable model as price is concerned would be the S. The Revo S is a great little reel but I ended up selling mine and replaced it with another Citica. The nice thing about a Citica is you can add a bearing to the drive shaft, replacing the bushing, and add some ceramic spool bearings to upgrade it as time and money permit. You can also polish the spool shaft, inner race and leading edge of the pinion to make it super smooth and great casting. It will end up surpassing a stock curado with these upgrades.

Thanks for the tip and yea it was the cheapest revo, the S, which is $129 I believe. My limit was $119 retail.

Hmm...

Now with Abbadabbadoo added, the Citica is still

favored by more than all other listed reels combined.

I wonder why?

I'll bring you an Abu Garcia STX to try out tomorrow.

;D ;D :) ;D ;D

LOL STX would spoil him for sure. Why not bring him a Core as well? :)

BPS PQ on sale is a serious value even though I personally prefer lower profile reels.

I have used RR's core with upgraded bearings, one word: Amazing

I agree. :) And its not that I'm knocking any of the other reels, and I was reffering to the Revo stx, which I see now wasn't the one you added anyway :-[

Hmmm....seems like someone changed my vote, changing it to Revo from Accurist PT. And Accurist PT is no longer on the list.

For what it's worth, I have both reels and the Accurist PT blows away the Revo S. I would have never made that choice.

I played with the Caenan a little bit, the gears don't seem to good, but other than that it seemed ok, I still like the Citica the most and now even more since I got to try out a Curado on the water (thanks R.R.). I have also been trying out a REVO SXT with braid on it for the past few couple of days, its ok, but for a $200 reel I should be completely wowed ,right, I just don't see any reel advantages of this reel over my Okuma Cayenne, besides the magnetic brakes and a clicking cast control; not to mention I will probably never use all 24lbs of drag, lol. To top it off it is a little heavy for my tastes. 8-)

If you look on ebay you can find revo sx reels for appx 90 bucks.
