All good possibilities....in my case, I fish a couple Country Club lakes from the shore that have sunken trees. I am always bouncing cranks off anything I can, so, I lose a fair amt of them....

I used to live near a golf course. Buzz baits and scum frogs at night were a real kick.

I stopped by my local Wal Mart and they had zero for clearance fishing items.  I had mentioned some of the deals that I read about on this thread and they sales guy thought I was crazy.  He even scanned a few items, including Power Pro line.  Not on sale.  >

Checked mine out yesterday they had a few things that caught my eye.  I picked up a couple packs of kinami Flashs' chartruese shad color and some gamagatsu ewg hook.  Other than those items they didn't have much that interested me.  I looked for some line but there was none to be had.

 Last year I picked up several spools fo 17lb and 10lb Stren braid for around $3 ea. Man I should have bought everything I could get my hands on.

    I also bought 2 cup/tool/gear holders that mount to bass seats for around $4ea man those were worth every penny.

 This year I bought a Manns hardbait for 10cents I think LOL

You always have to watch as you never know when they will clearance. They also clearance in 2 or 3 diff spots at my Walmart. Berkley Lightning rods on clearance last week ( only $5 off though).

I have checked both my local ones.  Neither one has anything on clearance yet.

WOW Buddy! I hit pay dirt at my local wally. i bought huskyjerks, baby minus1's, a few smithwick super rogues, all kinds of rapala's: X-raps, Shad raps, ummm.  They had a few reels for cheap too. I  was happy with my $50's worth of clearance goodies.

last week i got 600yds of yo zuri hybrid for $3.50. line was all that was on sale though.

I have 7 Wal-Marts within 1 hour's drive from where I live. I used to work there and in the sporting goods department so I got in on the clearance as soon as it was marked down and used to get a lot of good stuff. But over the years I think they've stopped keeping very good stuff at Wal-Mart, it's went way WAY down around here, and their clearance is not as good as it was before either. But when I first got into fishing I stocked up on most of the basics from clearance. Now I hardly buy anything at all, even hooks, from there. BPS and Cabela's, local shops, Dick's Sporting Goods, Sportsman's Warehouse, that's where I get my stuff now. Sometimes I drive for 3 hours to get to one or the other. BPS and Cabela's are the only two I have to go so far for.

I think the best thing I ever got on clearance at Wal-Mart was a Minn Kota Powerdrive with Autopilot 36 lb. thrust trolling motor. Paid $100 for it brand new in the box unopened 11 years ago. No longer have it now though.  Used to get rods and reels too, but their selection is hardly worth fooling with now.

I have three Rat-Marts 20 minutes away.  They all have nothing but cheap stuff.  I'll stick to my Sportsman's Warehouse.

My wal-mart has the gold quantium accurist 500cx for $30.  Also they have an abu 4600C3 for $30 also.  That is just about it.  Not to many lures that are worth anthing.
