This is my first post. Looking to spend between 50 and 100 bucks on a new spinning reel. What would you all reccomend? thanks in advance.

Welcome to BR... I would recommend a Pfleuger President. Or, save up some more dough and get a Daiwa Tierra.

Daiwa Exceler, I have used and owned Tierras, Capricorns, and Advantages from Daiwa. Presidents, Supremes, and Medalist's from Pfleuger, all of them cost more (except the President) than the Exceler, and none of them IMHO offer any thing the Exceler doesn't for less. Hard , for me, to justify spending more for cosmetic frills like the fancy finish on the Tierra, or the air bail on the more expensive Daiwa's. And the Pfleugers..............I was a fan once, but once they start to wear a little and get a little dirty, they get noisy and rough, and you can't bring them back. Cheaply made to offer a mirage of high performance at low cost.

Any spinning reel in the 50-$100 range will give the performance needed for light duty freshwater fishing.  Only suggestion I would make is to take your rod and put several reels on it to see which feels the best, and grabs your eye, brand is not nearly as important as long as the reel is smooth with a decent performing drag.

Pflueger President.

Strong, smooth, silent and reliant...Shimano Symetre.

I agree, It's almost hard to go wrong with any of the name brands at your price point. IMO the biggest bang for buck at this level is the Pfleuger President at <$70 on sale.

x2,  In the 3000 series

I recommend the Daiwa Exceler or Cabelas Prodigy reel both should be less than <$80 online.

I love my Pfleuger President.

Any of the name brands in that pricing area should give you good service.

Pflueger President is a good reel for the price, except

the metel handle shaft gets cold on my fingers in the winter.

Love my Okuma Trio!
