I received this beaut earlier today. It was smaller than I expected, as you can see it next to my Steez. Now to find a rod to match :)

Oh man I cannot wait for the RH version to come out.  I have one on preorder at Japantackle and am waiting for that email.  I was going to put it on a Phenix Recon 682L, but I put a sv105 on it and really like the combo.  I have a PX68 w/ some upgrades on a UL rod as well as a cr721 IMX that needs a reel, so I need to do a cast-off to see what reel works best on what rod.

Please let let us know what rod you pick.

I was just looking at the same Phenix rod. I was thinking about that one or the 7'1"L

It was my first BFS rod and while I really liked it, I though something shorter and faster would suite my needs more, so I picked up the CR721 when they went on 33% off.  I was dead wrong though, I can't do nearly as much with sub 5/16oz plastics with the loomis as I can with the Phenix.  The Loomis seems to only really get great at like the 3/8oz level. I'm rambelng here, but BFS and light casting rigs in general are always on my mind of late.

They r both really sweet. I have a Conquest 201 and it's my lease used reel. That's a much nicer color than the gold and I dislike the audible drag on mine. What made u go with the Conquest over the Aldebaran or something similar out of curiosity?  Cuz maybe I need one for the same reason lol.

Most of my reels are low profile, just wanted a nice round reel. I have my C4 5601, but that's a heavy reel. I use it more for swimbaits and such..

New toy! G Loomis Glx 844c MBR. Pairs up quite nicely with the Chronarch D7. Can't wait to get it out on the water!

I think you will be pleased with 844. I have had mine out 3 times and it is a really great rod for a lot of different tasks bottom contact or not.

Luckily she doesn't have a problem being right next to me as long as she has her combo in hands. They say happy wife, happy life.. good thing all she needs is a chronarch 50e and an avid pearl and she's golden. Looks good and easy to palm. I think I'm in the clear for now.. plus the bait monkey is satisfied temporarily.

The Perfect Pitch and the Antares DC were new to me this season, got them out on the water Sunday and OH MAN...  Perfection.  Exactly what I was looking for!!  That Antares is like a rail gun for baits- even a 3/8 trick darter was off like a bullet.  That PP has a killer flex profile and backbone too, very pleased!

Maybe just 1 more combo? Dont tell my wife! Lol0426170915.thumb.jpg.39239f2c90713a14b3b1cf8330a41074.jpg

Snagged an Alphas Finesse Custom off of ebay for like $120 last week.  The idea was to get a small, inexpensive reel to pair with a telescoping rod I picked up over the winter to be a travel combo for work and backpacking trips.  But then I threw it on a CR721 to give it a try and found that I like the combo so much I think I am going to have to keep looking for a travel reel.  It is incredibly smooth and slick, the spool is very easy to control, maybe even more so then my SV105.  I spend the day throwing wacky senkos and super flukes and the combo handled both of them perfectly.  The rod is a little light, but I was able to get a ~1.75lb bass through some moderate pads with no struggle at all, so I think it will work out if I am careful about where I use it.

"Just happened to have a CR721 lying around"

"Just put the finesse custom on to try it out"

"Just going to have to buy another reel for that other project"

Bait monkey is like...

I had about two paragraphs typed up in my defence, but it was all just lies.

I am conflicted over what to do with that cr721, it seems to fish way better at the heavy end of it's rating, but I am not sure if it has enough power to really be a viable senko rod, even if I limit myself to more open areas.

They aren't lies, they're rationalizations.  It's different because you had good intentions ???

For real though- drop shot, finesse jigging, tiny jerkbaits, finesse t-rigs, heck even float flies, slurpies tubes etc...  Lots you can do with that even if a full size senko is a bit overweight- I bet those baby yum dingers would do nicely!

You can never have enough Rods, Reels, or Tackle.

A few more HH parts made their way onto some reels, and a new G1 zillion 1016 sv spool to try out in one of them. Black level wind screws for the SV103's and purple brake dial screw for the Steez.

I was at a friends today and he's done 2 totally up in orange. Including swapping in orange Steez sv105 spools and changing out the bumpers to black ones. They really do look sharp.

What rod covers are those?

Slix rod covers that I slightly modified. I cut all mine to come to the same spot on the blank for each rod, and then re sewed them. Boredom and OCD got to me there.

Hey guys, I'm new here. Really just started taking fishing seriously within the last couple years. What I've used over the last 5-6 years or so was just a 2 piece ugly stick with a president 6940 spinning reel with some vanish fluorocarbon on it. Has done everything i needed it to do but it was time to expand my skill set.

Picked these two up not too long ago. 7' medium Abu Garcia Veracity spinning rod with a Pfleuger president XT 40 series reel. This joker is LIGHT and is super nice to use. I like bigger spinning reels, i know a lot of guys stick to 2000-2500 series but 4000 works well for me. This is my do whatever I want rod, good with top water but good for spinners/cranks/finesse as well.

And then my first baitcasting setup Abu Garcia Revo SX left hand retrieve with a 6'6 MH ugly stik elite. I went cheaper on the rod but i plan on probably getting the same rod i have for my spinner as my BC setup as well sooner or later. Now that I've got BC down for the most part, i'm putting some 40 lb 832 braid on it. This is my top water rod.

So since Gander MTN is going out of business, I went an capitalized on their sales and picked up a 7'1" MH fast St Croix mojobass bait casting rod to replace the floppy ugly stik I have been using. It is WORRRLDS better, casts further and more sensitive. Caught a striper on it today with a rattle trap on lake norman LOL. Was gunning for Largemouth.

Also have switched out to 40lb 832 Suffix on my Revo SX and 20 lb Power Pro super slick on the spinning setup. Both are awesome.
