What can i say? I like to keep the old school alive, you will be hard pressed to find a more comfortable grip than the tennesse on a spinning rod.

That's interesting; I must say I didn't even know that was a thing (Tennessee grip). It makes more sense now. Just not my cup of tea. :)

Is that the Avail ALD0915R spool? If so, I have one too and yeah, it doesn't hold much line. LOL

Yup, lol. I almost spooled it a few times today when the wind caught my bait. Figured I would have enough line using 15lb braid but I may try 10lb/2lb diameter to see if that will help.

Short accurate casts are effortless with this spool though.

Nice handle on the Curado too :eyebrows:   How do you like the HawgTech Winn knobs?

I was set on the cork but figured the black Winn knobs would go better with the Eva handle on the recon. They're cool. A bit bigger than expected but very comfortable wet or dry.

I put 10lb pp on to test out braid again for bfs and the wind killed my fishing experience. Back to fluoro/copolys. Put #7 sniper on and the sensitivity is great.

I've grown used to the wind vs braid battle but am definitely considering floro. Any popular 4lb floro I should look into?

That is an excellent outfit Matt! Can you comment on how the Poison Ultima compares to the Cumulus rods (price aside)?

I typically don't like fluoro, hate how unmanageable it is. But, the sensitivity is great. I've been using alot of 4lb yozuri hybrid, 6lb fluoroclear but will try fluoro here and there. Check the line diamter, but #7 sniper or 6lb tatsu should work for you.

Thanks man. The cumulus & 1st gen cumaras will always be my favorite usdm rods.

The poison series rods, just like megabass x7 & p3 are in a league of there own. The 6'10ml adrena I have actually feels like a slightly better balanced version of the 6'10 cumulus. I'd say the adrena/cumulus are pretty comparable.

The poison glorious & Ultima are the next step up. Blank is extremely sensitive, premium cork, titanium sic micro guides. My Ultima has a torzite tip.

The jdm styling and build quality is 2nd to none...

Thanks Matt! I am just NOT happy with the current offerings Shimano has available in the US. I have NOT sold any of my Gen 1 Cumara rods or Cumulus for that reason. Only the Ultima and Glorious intrigue me. If it didn't cost so much to ship them into the US I probably would have bought one of each by now.

In case you are curious, Bass JP, aka Proshop Otsuka, has a couple of used Shimano/Jackall BFS rods for sale. One is the PG 164L BFS64 Multirole and if my math is correct, with the rod, handling and shipping charge, it should be around $376 and change. The other rod is a Poison Ultima 162L-S. If my math is correct, it should be around $550 and change. They say the Multirole has some scratches and the Ultima is like new.

Super sick dude! I just got a 50DC last week and I'm trying to figure out a rod for it.

Thank you and congrats on your acquisition of the 50DC. This is actually my second one. I sold my first to Maico1 and I regretted it and bought another. Take my advice and use mono and always use easy to cast lures like cranks, top water, Super Flukes, jigs and T Rigs and you will love it. The mistake that I made with my first one was throwing less aerodynamic lures like blades jigs with 15# Big Game and the results were not good.
