There are two things I don't like so far. The none clicking dragstar and cheap plastic knobs.

Both of those things are fixable with $.  :eyebrows:  I like how yours looks though.

Both of those are easily remedied with some minor upgrades.

Cumulus, bfs xg, and a balsa bull. Topwater Bliss...

Are those your toenails, nice color.......

He should have went with forest green to to accent the rod and reel!

Sorry, don't have any pics but here are my setups:

T-Rig Plastics: BPS Pro Qualifier & 6'6 Medium Casting Berkley Lightning Rod Shock rod

Jigs: BPS Pro Qualifier & 7' Medium Heavy BPS Pro Qualifier rod

Topwater: BPS Extreme Tournament & 7' Medium BPS Pro Qualifier rod

Crankbaits: BPS Tourney Special & 6'6 Medium Heavy Quantum ? rod

Spinnerbaits: BPS Prolite & BPS 6'6 Medium Heavy BPS Graphite Series rod

I have more reels that either need to be repaired or need a rod. :)

agreed, some people have no sense of fashion.

Just wanted to show my newest gear, this is gear that I have upgraded too! Finally was able to buy some really good gear that ill be able to use for a long time, with proper technique and care of course!

From top to bottom:

Dobyns Champion 734c w/ Pinnacle Optimus XiHS 7.3:1 Suffix 832 40#- I use this for just about anything from square bills, worming, and some frogging, buzzbait chatter bait, big worms on lighter trigs or even weightless big worms

7'1 Duckett White Ice Heavy Byron Velvick Model w/ Lews Tournament Pro 6.4:1 PP 50#- I actually use this for Flippin n Pitchin and some Punchin, I fish in Florida from the bank so a shorter rod helps me actually to flip and pitch my heavy stuff. Also for heavier worming trigs and crigs.

7'1 MF St. Croix LTB Pflueger Patriarch 7.9:1 Invisx 12# Floro- This is a super versatile rod I can do light reaction baits, spinnerbaits squarebills and my main purpose is finesse and lightweight worming!

I love these rods and reels and as you can see im not picky or loyal to a brand whatever I can get thats quality is alright with me!

Blown away that this thread is still going!!! I been away for a couple years and I been spending the last couple days drooling over the gear in this thread. Looks like my Tackle gear needs some upgrading!!

Occasionally I would look at this thread and think that Hawk started all this - where the HECK is he?   Welcome back!  I bet you didn't think this thread would be coming on ONE-QUARTER MILLION views...

After some major indecisiveness on my part, I finally picked up my 2 rods this morning. I already broke them in at a little pond by the house, too. grin.gif The red-trimmed one is built on a new Shikari blank(yes, new-but old-stock from a secret source wink.gif) It is 6'11 and is medium-hvy. power with a nice parabolic bend. It casts a 1/8 oz. Bitsy Bug with a plastic trailer well, but also will blast a 5/8 oz. squarebill with authority. It has Fuji Alconite microguides, an ECS reel seat with black hood and a Fuji weighted counterbalance butt. The cork grips are 2-tone and made by Batson, which look very nice, I think.

The second is a Batson 7' RX-7 popping blank, model IP 843. A friend bought my spinning version of this rod and I kind of missed it, so I had one built for a casting reel tongue.gif It has Fuji Alconite microguides with a Fuji ACS reel seat and a Fuji weighted counterbalance butt. Silver aluminum winding checks make it look really nice, too. This rod casts a #11 Rapala floater so well that I actually got it hung up in a tree on the first cast (but the reel might have had something to do with that, too). It casts light stuff phenomenally, which is exactly what I wanted it for-yet it handled a 3/8 oz. spinnerbait well also. Anyway, hope y'all enjoy, because I'm certain that I will! cool.gif

I got a 23# flathead on a crankbait this morning on the rod with red trim. :D The Carbontex drag did it's job surprisingly well.

Awe yes, very nice! I thought perhaps you had a few tricks up your sleave that you were trying to sneak by.

I do.... ;) I have a nice TD-Z 100M with a few upgrades and a JDM TD-X Airmetal on the way!

Nice snag on the 100M, a favorite of mine for bottom contact apps! It has been a down year for me on the fishing tackle end of things with all the medical expenses. Hoping to get back in the tackle mix again soon!

KTF spool came in today, hitting the pond in a bit to test it out. Reel weight is now 4.76oz  :respect-059:

Dang dude, do you even throw baits light enough to test that spool? Lol

Yep, was trying to get a casting rig to throw 1/16oz shakeyheads & flickshakes. I spooled it with 8lb flouroclear and was shocked the distance I was getting over the stock spool. I'm using a 6'5 cumulus but considering a 682 Recon.

I'm gonna downsize to 6lb line, just have to figure out which one as I'm a braid guy... I've heard good things about pline CX, sunline super natural, and sufix elite/siege.

  • Super User

Nice! The reel is on a serious diet. At 4.76 ounces it is incredible! Nice job Matt!
