Decided to do some work while at work, and tear it down for cleaning. It's ready for Saturday.

90mm CF handle with SLP Works zion knobs.

It's a Daiwa SS SV for anyone wondering.

Sweet reel, I am sure you seen the SLP works kit for it, that drag star is awesome.

My TD Z family. One of them will be leaving for new home soon.  :cry4:

Yeah I've peeked at their stuff before. I'm actually not a fan of the drag star. I like the steez star the best. Wish I could put it on every Daiwa I have.

If it looks that pretty I can't afford it. Super nice though!

Its only $300. Not much more than your SS

Matt, What kind of distance are you getting with those eighth of an ounce jerk baits? I was throwing a quarter ounce Husky Jerk with my XT1000 and Yumeya spool/ 20# Suffix 832 and a Loomis CR721 and just guessing, maybe 50 feet.

I was slinging 1/8oz jerks about 75-100ft with 6lb copoly on that poison glorious bfs rod i had.

And I'm so happy to be taking one of them off your hands!!

That thing is amazing!!

I forgot to add that I also used a Conquest 50 with an Avail Spool and the results were about the same. The lower end lure rating for the CR721 is 3/16oz and the rod is not what i would consider whippy at all. Are the BFS rods made for throwing finesse hard baits kinda whippy?

Some of them are really whippy but not necessarily. I have thrown 1/16 oz around 20 meters with a CR722 IMX, so CR721 would probably be fine.

Looks like I will be trying again and work on my casting.

A lot of the bfs rods meant for hardbaits are regular fast/moderate action. Definitely helps to fling those super light baits out there.

I had tremendous amount of success having tension knob completely loose, relying purely on the breaking system and thumbing, after seeing Sawamura from KTF do it. You feel so connected to the set up, and it is quite nice. I usually set 3 breaks on my Metanium when I am around 1/8 oz, and 4 breaks when I'm going to 1/16 oz. I can easily adjust the dial on the fly if I need to make a long cast, or skip under some structure.

What do yall think of throwin a 3/4-1oz. C-rig on a 7-3 xtra fast Shimano Crucial?

After trying tons of braking options on the ktf spool, i found this setup works best for me. Just pull off all the brakes, put on 2 reds, 2 clears and your good to go...

Any idea if it's the yellow or blue brakes that come with the Conquest 50 that provide the most braking?

I would post some pics, but I have a Citica 200e and a Sahara 2500, both mounted on Lightning Rods.

Funny thing, I still catch fish!

why is that funny?? my stuffs cheap too and I have no problem holding my own when I fish with my buddy who have 2-3 hundred dollar rods and reels... just because they are expensive does NOT mean they catch more fish. the best combo you have is the one between your ears...

funny? why? I have what would be considered cheap combos to most and when I fish with my buddys who have 300+ dollar rods and reels I have no problem holding my own with them and catch more than them sometimes. expensive combos don't catch more fish because they cost more, remember the best combo you have is the one between your ears and that's the one that determines what or how many you will catch..  I would show my combos but cannot figure out how to post them from my album.....

I would just weigh them. The only difference I believe is the weight with heavier obviously providing more breaking. My money is on the yellows.

I weighed 6 yellow and 6 blue and they didn't register on my scale. I know how it casts with the blue so I installed the yellow and I will do some more casting tomorrow. I also think the yellow will be heavier.
