So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?

Featured Replies

Thanks for the info Hester.  I'd rather it be tough before I get there than when I'm there. In any case I love that place and will make the best of it. I've had some of the best fishing days of my life there.

Had 30lbs today and my dad had 14lbs in our club tournament. Our best 5 combined was 33lbs. I had 3 fish between 7- 10lbs jump off. My big fish i caught was 9.5lbs.  Lots of tournaments coming up, but

  • Well two days in & only 3 fish ?   But one was tagged BassCashBash which I was registered in, it won me a 2019 Dodge Ram!

I thought it would be appropriate to bump this thread after hearing the bad news of @Catt's passing.  I don't fish Toledo Bend but this is a very interesting read for anyone.  I know Tommy took a lot

Heading up Sunday for a little father son time with my dad. He's not much of a fisherman so i hope to put him on some fish! Anybody have a report from the Lowes Creek area or know if we can find some haygrass there?

Headed over this weekend to give it a try.  Putting in at the 6/21 bridge area.  Anybody have a report please shoot me a PM.  Jerry, if you happen to see this, check your messages.

Btw, any top water action going on?

First time to TB for spring break, March 13th.  I've read through most of this thread and I'm making a plan of action.  Like a lot of people I'm most comfortable shallow.  So I'm thinking spinner baits, T rigged Brush Hogs, Senkos and probably some swim baits....looking for shallow brush, hay grass and beds if I can find them.  We're staying in Winfrey creek close to Negreet.  I'm looking at spots on the North side of that arm.

Any help or ideas you would share I would really appreciate!

Yes, a 10 fish stringer and you can read the story on LA sportsman website.

Yessir, that was some folks from here in lafayette. They had 35.40lbs for the win, a 52lb 10 fish stringer for the sunday and a 68lb 10 fish stringer for both days. They were c-rigging and jigging humps in tennessee bay

Hey All,

Wow I've been out of pocket for a while. I finally got to put boat in the water last weekend for about a grand total of 7 hours after almost a year... Didn't do to great, but had 4 total, largest just under 3. Talk about rusty.... LOL, I'm going to do some catch up reading see how everyone has been doing on the Big Bend.

Good luck all!

Welcome back LaRoper!

I know the feeling, if I don't go soon I'll have to ask for directions!

I know were all about to nail them shallow.  but if anyone wants to teach my dad and I how to fish some deeper in fall summer or early spring I can offer free room and board at Six Mile.  Ive got that mid range depth down but neither one of us really know how to nail them deep.  We have electronics from 2009, I forgot lowrance model number.  we can put you up in six mile through out the year especially if you are a tournament fisher.  not on the water but really close to launch.  good luck.  march is going to be awesome!

where you at in six mile skeeter? im in holiday circle....

Apparently I need to get on the ball and get a place in six mile?.

I have a lil club tourney out of San Miguel tomorrow morning.  Not very familiar with the area.  Anyone have any advice?  Flipping brush is really the only thing i know to do.  Not sure of an area to do it.  With work being busy havent had time to do any prefishing.  Its a small boat club so i cant make a very long run.   THanks

Ill be launching @ san miguel park.

Well this was in 2000-2003 when I fished the mid lake area. When you coming out of the park start fishing 75 yards before you get to the first point on the right. Flip the brush. Once you go around the point there is a indention and RR tracks with gravel bottom that runs to the creek channel. Also the point north of Wildwood is good. There is also a area called the wasp nest but its hard to explain how to get there. I hope this helps. Good luck

I found a lot of deep fish today but couldn't hardly get um to fire up. Caught 10, but found one school with probably 75 fish in it.   It was a funny bite, they would knock the fire out of a jig or a dropshot but wouldn't hold onto it.  I did go shallow for an hour and look around. Saw a lot of cruisers, but nothing locked on yet.

I hate when they bite like that!

I've had em almost take the rod out my hand but you couldn't set hook fast enough!
