I was able to sneak out the other night after getting the kids to sleep and ran into a new PB! 6lbs 3oz at a little lake by my house. I found an offshore weedline in about 10ft of water on my portable

Kinda rough weather in northern IL today but I've been on this 3-day weather pattern the last couple weeks (fishing the 3rd day of warm day/warmish night trend) and today is the target day. I decided

Another one? That's 2 this week.

I have my lowest number of over 5's this year

That's my goal every year, crack that d**n 5lbs. Can catch a couple 4's every year but can't seem to trick the big mama's. So far this year I'm stuck on 3lbs 10oz caught on swim jig/ paca craw. It's still early tho, with this messed spring I think everything got pushed back a few weeks. I'm in the Plainfield area and I'm catching pre-spawners. Usually It would be post spawn by now.

Still prespawn? Wow. I've been on a spawn/post spawn bite this week. Found a few on beds as well as some guarding fry the last 2 days.

Fox Chain continues to be on fire. Our club weighed in 32 limits out of 44 boats. Biggest bag was over 15lbs and big fish was a 4.79lb post spawn female. There were a couple 4+ girls still with eggs. A ton of pike were caught as well. My son got a 24" his buddy got a 36" and a number of other boats landed them as well.

How did you guys rank this weekend?

If I was proud I would have posted :cry4:  We weighed in a limit @ 8.49lbs Out of the 32 limits caught there were only 2 that weighed less than ours. Last tourney was 5th place this tourney 32nd place

I got a tourney on Lake Mattoon this Sunday, I sure hope the bite is better than it has been at Shelbyville!

what timeis the tourney, and who is putting it on

The tourney is from 6am-2pm, Champaign County Bass Masters is holding the tournament.

We have a meeting the first Monday of every month at the VFW in Champaign.  Its a 25 dollar yearly joining fee, and its 15 dollars a tournament.

I was told you have to have a boat to join

Well, I live so close to Sangchris Lake, & I want to learn and help others learn more about this wonderful lake. I have started a Fishing Sangchris Lake Forum.

Please join me in the expansion of knowledge pertaining to this central Illinois gem of a lake !

Nice fish! what's up with the Green Bay Packers shirt? Smh..

I failed as a father. :wink2:  He turned out a good kid except for the Packers obsession. He is ridiculed by every member of the family and it doesn't phase him. My brother has season tickets to the Bears since before they gave the facelift to Soldier Field. My bro has taken him to every home Bears Packers game and the kid will sit and get taunted and stuff thrown at him, yet he continues to go. He was 6 when he saw the Packers win the Super Bowl against New England, and kids like to root for the winning team. It's a shame, he's the last boy in the family to carry on our family name,,,and he's a Packers fan. :cry4:

Hey nice_Bass, there is a tournament on Clinton July 6th.  Would you be interested in fishing it?  First 3 payouts are over a thousand dollars.

I could be convinced of that actually.  Taking off this Friday through Wednesday for fishing (and wife, daughter vaca as well).  Who is putting the tourney on?

I think its a bunch of locals, it might be tough placing.  Ill find the info

Tired of all the open tournaments and trails around here that keep 30% or more of your money, or send big chunks away to a classic that you have to drive across the country to fish? Our local Anglers Choice tournament has been drawing 12-16 boats, 180 dollar entry fee, and paying back 2 spots, 1000 for 1st and 2nd barely getting their money back, while the other 12-15 guys go home broke after paying 4 dollars a gallon for fuel and 180 to get in, A group of us that fish Clinton on a regular basis are putting together a tournament that will be a 200 dollar entry fee, pay back 100% at the ramp, and pay good back into the field, where 20-30% of the guys who fish it make money, and even more than that get their money back, if we get 30 boats the top 3 spots will be over a grand, 1st being over 2....if we only draw 10 boats 1st will be 1000 2nd 500,3rd300,4th200.....that's 40%of the field getting a check guys! You don't need to get a calculator out to see that this is the best value around. We wanna make this work and have a whole series next season, anyone who wants to volunteer to help can, this is just a group of guys fed up with horrible payouts willing to do a little extra work to make sure we have a great tournament on one of the best lakes around, and hopefully this helps everyone get a piece of the pie at some point in the season, we want as many people as possible to get their money back. There are a lot of b/s tournaments around here, hopefully we can finally have a good one.The first one will be Saturday July 6th. Message me if interested, I will give you the contact to get signed up and/or ask questions. Thanks for your time.
