Just wondering what time of the year or water temp i should start throwing plastics like Texas Rigged Lizards, Worms, and Craw Dads. I was just wondering if there is a certain time of the spring that is best for them and if the water temp plays a big role on that. I live in East Tennessee and right now the water temp is only at around 49 to 50 and the lakes are coming up slowly. At what time of the year should i start trying to throw some plastics.

There's no wrong time to throw soft plastics.  I always have a t-rig and a weightless rig ready.

Right now you could start.  They are all year baits that will catch bass in 50-95 degree water.  Ive caught most of my fish on plastics.

well the reason i asked this question is where the water temp gets down into the low 40's the fish star suspending and not really at the bottum so i was just wondering when would be a good time to start throwing a T Rig.

I only use them from the beginning of January til the end of December.  

If the water isn't frozen, plastics will produce. It's more a matter of where and how you fish them. Fish them more slowly on deeper structure when the water is cold. Work closer to shore and less deep when bass begin to stage and bed in the spring. In the summertime, find the thickest cover and beat it to death. JMHO

use them the whole year...if you worried that they are suspended, throw a weightless senko, they will hit it on its decent.  i would take one of your crawdads and use it as a trailer on a jig...always a good cold water bait...just drag it along the bottom

It is kind of like that credit card.. never leave home without it... and never go fishing without using it...   It works for me.

Not all bass suspend at the same time but you can catch suspended bass with a Texas Rig all you have to do is adjust the rate of fall by using lighter weights or no weight. I'll throw a Zoom Trick Worm Texas Rigged with out a bullet weight but insert a 1 paneling nail into the tail; this will cause the worm to fall slowly horizontally. You really got to pay attention to your worm as it falls on semi-slack line watching for line twitches, feeling for the slightest tap, or even if your line stops when you know it aint on the bottom.

That's one rig that's always ready to go. I try not to use it because I don't like fishing slow but when nothing else is working, I will grab it.

I guess its unanimous even ice fisherman use them

Yea, but, I have read all I can from all of the kind folks here but haven't had any luck anywhere (with plastics) I need someone to "Show me" I guess its a MO thing
