Do you guys remember the super plastics that came out a few years ago like the Strike King 3x baits and Terminator plastics.  I bought a couple of packs and loved the durability of these lures.  They also floated well.  However, they got sticky and smelled like a garbage dump.  They also stretched so much on the cast that it felt really weird.

I sure wish they could come up with a compromise between those old baits and standard plastics.  One fish per worm get expensive.

i really loved their soft jerkbaits like the zulu and z too those were great i still buy them online but cant find them in stores. i still can find their finesse worms love those to. 3x trailer is awesome just a litte drop of super glue and you have your trailer all day. but i never had a problem with them melting or stretching when they are casted.

They're still made.

Still available and the product has changed to Elaz tech. It is a better formulation and SK has several different styles of baits in that material. Ck out  strikeking.com  and go to product page to review. Several larger dist.'s carry the variety of baits and as mentioned Tackle Warehouse has them as well. good fishing

Strike King Elaz Tech worms last longer than any worm made.  

The Strike King Zulu, Z-Too & Finesse Worm are all still available, what disappeared was the 3x "Floating" worm (but not really).

This unique plastic was a long time in the making, I believe it's a 3M patent and from the looks of it, 3 patents: Cyberflexxx - 3x - Elaz-Tech

The last couple times I've been fishing, the Strike King 3x Finesse worm was my top producer (sadly, dinks)

All the 3X plastics I've owned ended up melting into a single, unrecognizable blob. I keep all my tackle in the house so I don't know how it got hot enough to melt.

bass wrangler, did you store them with regular plastics? If you put them in the same container with regular plastics, they dry up and melt for some reason. If you keep them separate, they are usually fine.

The Gander mountain i used to go to had them on sale for $1 for a long time.

That's right, 3x plastic is "highly" reactive with nearly every other type of plastic.

To my knowledge, the only two safe storage places is their original bag and the compartments in a worm-proof tacklebox.

You are correct in saying to keep them seperate from other plastics and in just about any storage environment they will be fine. The first product that came on the market was definitely less than desirable but that has changed. The new product is tremedously stable and a big advantage for bouyancy as well as durability. Several other manufacturers are on the ban wagon now. None of my products are produced in Elaz tech due to the strech in the plastic did not provide the perfect action results, or I would be using it as well.

The new 3X plastics do not have the bouyancy of the original. I really miss the Terminator Cyberflex plastics, I landed more with their lizards in Black Ruby than any other plastic I've ever used. I guess Rapala wanted to stay away from soft plastics when they aquired the company.

I picked up 3 bags of worms from Gander Mtn. recently for $.99 a bag. This was a month or two ago. I have yet to give them a try and will soon. I was gonna use them for shakey head fishing.

I love these baits. A little hard to find exactly what you want though.

You are right, I remember when the bait wouldn't sink with a 6/0 EWG wide gap hook and now many are full of salt to make them sink.
