If you are just looking for light summer reading, you can't beat Louie Lamour westerns.

I second Burley - Read some Ayn Rand - Atlas Shrugged or The Fountainhead.  Amazing books.  Atlas Shrugged especially mirrors what is happening in the world today.  Many eerie parallels, just as with 1984.

For some light reading, I highly recommend anything by Orson Scott Card's, particularly the Alvin Maker series (Historical Fantasy), and the Ender series (Ethical Sci Fi).

I can read practically anything.  I've been reading a lot of thrillers lately, but I'm open to everything.  I've read basically all of the "classics" -most of them are required by my English class.

I'll have to buy Atlas Shrugged.  I head it's over 1 billion pages long, so it should keep me occupied for a few days. :

Try the Dirk Pitt series by Clive Cussler.  You dont have to read them in a row, but they are all about the same guy.  Action, adventure, SCUBA diving, history, science, and of course the girl.  They are great books and an easy read.

One of my favorites is "The Name of the Rose".  I read it at least once a year.

Is HG Wells the War of the Worlds guy? Thats a decent read.

I liked Angels and Demons and The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown. The Godlen Compass and the other books were crazy. I didnt care about the weak kiddy part but the subtle messages were interesting. I liked the Lord of the Rings as well. Three books at 300+ pages each ought to occupy you for a while.

Amen to reading the Louis L'amour books.I read them all at one time or another.They're addictive.

I'm a little late on this but, "The World is Flat" by Thomas Friedman.  It is basically about how information and technology has changed the world.  You UPS guys may enjoy this too.  There is a section about how amazing UPS is with what the author calls supply chaining.

Another interesting book is "Freakonomics".

If you like those kind of books, you might want to check out "The Tipping Point" and "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell.

If you enjoyed animal farm, Lord of the Flies is similar.

Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky is actually pretty good. Especially a good book if you are reading for school. They used to use it for AP classes alot.

Not sure if you are a big history, military enthusiast. If you are, then I would suggest "Iwo Jima" by Bill Ross, or " No bending knee , the battle for Guadal Canal" I can't remember the authors name. Let's you know more about the young men from the 40's and appreciate the older generation more and their sacrifices for our freedom. More current, my personal favorite. "My men are my heroes" this is about Operation Phantom Fury Fallujah Irag in 04 by  SgtMaj Brad Castle. There are a lot of good reads out there and I am just suggesting a few of my own.

It's about his captivity in a German prison camp after being shot down while flying bombing raids over Germany in WW2.
