How are most of y'all using the brush hog and the baby brush hog.

My lake is not well suited to c-rigs because of very weedy bottom.

I use both T-rigged with a 3/8 oz. bullet sinker (usually pegged).

Have also used on a C-rig.

Good bait IMO.

I've had success T-rigging them and with a flipping and pitching style presentation.

I t-rig mine almost exclusively. The one pond I started fishing this year is polluted with hydrilla. One of the techniques I had success with during the summer was t-rigging a brush hog with a 1oz bullet weight and SLOWLY crawling across the bottom straight through the thick stuff.

(baby)Trigged weightless can be a killer during late prespawn and spawn. Let it slowly fall and then deadstick it as long as you can in open pockets.

C. Rig the baby. T. Rig (pegged) the biggie 1/8 - 1/4 oz. I usually tear the 'loop arms' off the biggie for a little different/sleeker look. Sometimes those arms take a set in the bag and can cause the lure to spin upon retrieve. Great spawn bait.

I have found baby brush hogs work better than the larger brush hogs with the Texas Rig producing better than any other. My most productive colors by far is Watermelon Neon, Black Sapphire, & June Bug Red.

My favorite way of rigging the bbh is on a 1/8 or 1/4oz. owner sled head. The bh is t-rigged with no weight on a 3/0 hook.

T-rig most of the time with a 1/8oz bullet wt. unless I am in more than 10' of water then I go to 1/4.

I fish both T-rig and weightless.  Just started last year using the baby brush hog as a trailer to my spinnerbaits and JIGS.  I have had great success with them on my jig.

I am really surprised at how few people have said use the as jig trailers. The baby hogs make great trailers on smaller (3/8oz.) jigs. The Brush Hogs do well on larger jigs (3/4oz, 1oz.). I also will t-rig both of them with a pretty light weight (1/8oz. to a 1/4oz...sometimes a little bigger if I am fishing deeper) and peg the weight if the cover dictates. I generally use 3/0 hooks on the babies and 4 or 5/0 hooks on the bigguns. When I fish them un-pegged I like to use a bead for a multitude of reasons: knot protection, a little extra noise, and it makes it appear that the brush hog is chasing prey smaller than it, giving it a more natural look. Also if you are fishing it in really snaggy, weedy spots, then removing a few of the appendages will allow it to come through the muck and grass a little better.

I usually do not fish these baits on a c-rig though they are probably very effective. I just hate c-riggin'. I am thinking that may be a style of fishing I need to work to better myself at this year.

C-rig and T-rig both got me bit last year. I read somewhere that they have been effectively used as a jig trailer as well. If using it that way, I would consider cutting the bait down a bit...just a thought.

yeah the bead is for noise. and the 11/0 is a sweet hook!

Shut Up Raul!!  Nobody needs to know about using them as jig trailers  

I modify them before using them as a jig trailer, and will post a pic later to show how I do it.  I then attach it to either a jig or football jighead.

I usally fish these t-rigged but will fish them c-rigged or either as a trailer on a jig also.
