Barbeque sauce

Featured Replies

Last week there was the discussion of charcoal vs. gas. This past weekend, as I worked some chicken breasts over on the gas grill, I wondered about some of the favorite sauces used. I had Sweet Baby Ray's to use but my personal favorite is Cattlemens Classic.

What are some of your personal favorites and if you like to make your own, and the recipe isn't ancient chinese secret, maybe you could share?

Jimmy's original recipe doesn't get any better. I have seen grown men fight over the last drop. ::)

Ridgewood, or better yet, make your own to your own taste.  I make a vinegar sauce, tomatomolasses sauce, mustard sauce, and a mayo bbq sauce.

For a "big name" sauce I really like Sweet Baby Ray's.

BTW, I just ordered some Gates to see what all the fuss is about 8-)

Awesome, always looking for new BBQ sauce to try.  Sweet Baby Rays is good stuff, I also like some stuff called Que Pit not sure if it is regional or national.  Will order some of that Gates stuff soon.

Cattlemens Classic.

This stuff is pretty good! For chicken I like Jack Daniels, the kind with the hint of hickory. For beef and pork Cattlemans Classic or Honey.

mmm. I haven't had the Honey Chipotle, that sounds good.

Soooo many BBQ sauces.........so little time.

Sweet Baby Rays is good but sometimes I like the thicker sauce like Cattleman's or K.C. Masterpiece.

About a year ago I went out to Kansas City for a work related trip staying out there for 9 nights. Of those 9 nights, I ate BBQ 6 nights.  :P

homemade

start out with Kraft Hickory (or any brand really)

add;

ketchup

mustard

brown sugar

pancake syrup

vinegar

chopped onion

all to taste....    8-)

yes, Sweet Baby Ray's is the shizzle for straight out of the bottle

Pickle juice and mustard in itself can make a fine sauce for Q.

I'm a Stubb's man.
