That's sad.  He was the captain I liked the most.

One of my favorites on that show, I remember when he was having medical problems a while ago.  Blood clots were the problem the last time, most likely it finally got him.

Way too young, the guy was just a couple of years younger than I am, and it makes you start to think.

I hope the boys can carry on in his absence.

Sad news.  Only a year older than I.  One of my favorite captains on that show.

X2 He had a good boat.

sad news. He was a good captain. At least his family gets to put him to rest, unlike a lot of fisherman who die at sea. It's probably from smoking what seems like 3 packs a day...

R.I.P.

For me, he was one of the more likeable characters on the show.

One of the best personalities on the show, seemed like a no b.s. type man.  May his family carry on strong.

I registered at Discovery.Com just to post a condolence message on their forum. Since the thread started yesterday, it's nearly 300 pages (not posts) long.

Thats horrible. He was also one of my favorites. Sig and he were my top two. RIP big fella.

Captain Phil was my favorite from the show as well.  I hope his two sons will carry on after him.

I figured this was gonna happen sooner or later:

I hope the kids can come to terms without destroying themselves. I know it's tough.

driving with a suspended license

something tells me Jake has been to this dance before.

Phil was the only thing keeping that kid straight.  And barely so at that.

That's kinda what I was gettin' at.  Phil had a tough love and made the kid work to get ahead.  Give him an atta boy when he earned it and an arse chewing when he deserved it.  He always kept the kid on his toes.  He won't have that any more.  I hope Phil was able to get to him enough to at least make him think once and a while.
