I'm tired of my feet being sore and wet. As a college student, I walk several miles every day through water, mud, and God knows what else (there is a mystery puddle behind our caf that is very suspicious).

I'm looking for a comfortable, lightweight lowtop. And does anybody have an experience with waterproof shoes? It's sure be nice to keep my feet dry, but I'm wondering if they'd be hot and make my feet sweat during summer.

I've never had waterproof low tops. But all of the mid top waterproof hikers I have owned have Gore-Tex and they breathe pretty well.

Haven't worn these, but I've been eyeballing them for at least a year.

Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultras. They might cost you north of $100, but if you look for them on Zappos or Sierra Tradng Post you can get last years for less $$. GREAT shoe, I do everything from running to work in mine. Don't get too hot in the summer either. Good grip on wet surfaces, and waterproof until it comes over the top, The lace system takes a little getting used to but they're like slippers after you get it set,

Hands down the most incredible shoe I have ever worn.  Wicked comfortable, wicked light, and if you buy them at Sports Authority or Dicks, you can buy the $5 warranty and when they wear down, you send them in and get a brand new pair for free.  Seriously, buying these was the best money I ever spent. 

Burley hit the nail, take a look at the Merrell's.  one of the most comfortable shoes you can own.  That's all I have been buying for the last few years as far as casuals.  Their sandals are pretty comfortable too.

You don't need good shoes, you just need water proof socks. Buy some seal skinz. Great 40 dollars I have ever spent. Just buy cheap comfortable running shoes with a lot of mesh.

Might be out of your price range, but this is the best combo I have found. Rugged yet draining shoe and waterproof socks. If you buy the high end socks, they will even seal at your calf.

I use this for when I tournament fish during rain, also can wear them during the summer months with no socks.  And rugged enough to wear when I am bank fishing

I have a pair of those Danners, and I have stood in ankle deep water for several minutes and not had a drop come through. Pretty waterproof in my opinion.

I'm sure they have a waterproof low top.

Their version of goretex in RW dry I htink.

i have those and theyre comfortable. ive been through some epic puddles and they have stayed dry. ill try to submerge them this wkend and report back.

Burley, I just opened the link you posted. That's the same exact pair I have gotten twice now. Not so much water proof or anything, but the comfort is unbelievable!

Big Fruits, let me know how that works, mine stay dry to a point, but I still walk around the puddles.   The thing is that they breathe to the extent that you can walk them dry fairly quick.

True anatomical footbed, light weight, waterproof, breatheable.  When it comes to casual shoes, all I wear anymore is Keen.

I also like the Jasper, Obsidian WP, and Targhee II.  That said, I wear the Wasatch more than any other.  I've got 6 pair of Keens; they came recommended by my orthopaedic surgeon after having 3 ligaments repaired in my right knee.

Had Merrel's for a couple of months, haven't worn them out yet. I know one thing fo sho, they're comfortable as hell.

Like I said, I keep looking at the Merrell's at Dicks, just can never bring myself to pull the trigger.  I do need something to wear in the boat when it's raining.  I absolutely hate wet feet.
