7 Days

Recommended Posts

Since I have had a dip. It is supposed to be easier after the first few days. It is not. I am about ready to kill someone.

Kids, dont start chewing, it sucks to quit.

I give myself 50/50 at this point.

It does get better. Withdrawal from nicotine does get easier after about 3-4 weeks but does remain for about 12 months in lesser form. It is mind over matter. Hang in there.

Nicotine gum did the trick for me. I smoked and dipped for nearly 20 years, but I've been tobacco free for since March 2009.

Nicotine gum can become addictive as well. I have a guy at work who did that and ended up getting addicted to the gum and started smoking again. This isn't the first time I've heard this either.

Just stay with it. It has been 3-4 months for me since I have had one. Just think that you are either going to die from it or have your face mutilated from it and then want to kill yourself. It makes it easier for me.

Keep it up man, I know it's hard, but it's worth it to stop. Seen my dad lose his lower set of teeth so hope it never turns out that bad.

Nobody likes quitters.....

But in all seriousness, I'm happy for you.  No more having to throw away your spit bottles out of my car after a trip!   ;D

I'm a few months with no smokes, and no help either.  You can do it.

That is AWESOME!!!!

You have made a tremendous accomplishment and do not sell your short!! The hard part is over you just have to keep up the good work.

I smoked for 11 years and dipped on and off the last 4. Today is day 21. Yes it is miserable. I broke a sink, my toe, and said more profanities in my entire life...combined. I feel a lot better and sure do not miss hacking up crap the first 30 minutes I'm awake.

Its all about behavior modification. I can tell by your posts you are of some intelligence. ;) I really had to psychoanalyze my behavior and confront my addiction to remain successful.

Congratulations, sir!

Something that has been very helpful for me is to track my days on a whiteboard. Everyday I write in big numbers how many days it has been and I see it everytime I enter my bedroom. I made it this far, the last thing I want to do is start that count over.

There is no such thing as just one dip or just one smoke. Trust me, I tried quiting dozens of times.

Exactly, behavior...I know how you operate and I know you love to prove people wrong and tell them they are stupid. So...

I bet you won't do it. You suck at life and will give up and go back to dip in no time. You're just wasting your time trying to quit.

;D  Hopefully you can call me stupid in a few months and tell me I was wrong.

HAHAHA.. Nice!

I don't think i'm going to enjoy fishing with him anymore for awhile.  It's like taking a binky away from a little kid.

Agreed.  Started dipping at 17, quit at 31, and then started again at 35 after just one dip.  I thought I was far enough along to control myself.  It's been three years of one more dip.
