Simp, I received your forms today.  It's beginning to look like this trip to KY Lake is going to be as big as the one in '09.

  • We made it home after a long travel day but it was worth it. Seeing everyone at the road trip was tons of fun and I can’t wait until next year. We haven’t decided where to go but we’re working on it

  • Finally got my pictures off my camera which got ruined. Hooked this guy and finally thought I had my double digit largemouth. Anyway, great fight in 3 feet of water. I know Big-O wanted to catch o

It's going to be party time, Bass Resource style!

Wow,  thats alot of members.  This is going to be a great party!!!!

For anyone on the bubble please do not miss out. This will be my 3rd. Kentucky Lake was the 1st with about 50 attendees, what a blast. Pickwick last year smaller but good fishing. This has been some of my best time fishing over the last 3 years. Learned a lot and had a good time. I bet we can get up to 50 before it is all said and done. Kentucky Lake is a joy to fish. Like picking fish off the pantry shelf. A Uncle Leoism, ledge fishing at it's best.

Deb we did not forget about ya all! All you good people were part of the group, a bit too hospitable but I think we can forgive you for that.

Wow Mike, an impressive line up!  Whoop 'er up boys and have a blast! 8-)

You can add one more attendee.  My bro-in-law is coming with me.  I told me that if he wants to go on this awesome trip, he's gotta join bassresource.com. ;)

He said he will as soon as he gets back from Australia.

Oh, and he's gonna be sending you the signed registration form too Mike.

Is he going to take one of the two spots you have on that list?   ;)

I guess he is.  I didn't see that there were two spots on the list.  I swear I'm losing my mind.  :-/

Can someone please re-post the name of the good source for KY Lake Maps...I ordered one way back when, but haven't received it yet.

Thanks.

That's the one I was looking for...thanks.

Ok  dumb question.  Will we be staying in KY north or KY south?

  • Super User

North, towards the dam.

Mike - just emailed you my form, pdf. If I need to mail it, let me know.

I am still planning on going down on Friday the 15th, fishing Sat and Sunday. I have a boat, not fancy or anything, older skeeter 17ft. Lynrdsky was planning on fishing with me at least one day, not sure if he's still planning on coming? Whoever wants is welcome - two disclaimers 1) I know nothing about the lake 2)I will occasionally get sent on a last minute trip for work, so I could have to cancel last minute. Not likely, but could happen.

Looking forward to it

Talk about weird...guess what showed up in today's mail.  Yep, my map from Atlantic Mapping.  First impression of the lake after looking at the map...much narrower than I had imagined.

  • Super User

Only looks narrow because it's about 200 miles long. ;D

On average, the main channel of the lake is about a mile and a half wide.  You do not want to be in the channel if the wind is blowing from the South at twenty plus.  AS CWB said, the lake is about 200 hundred miles long, so the waves have ample opportunity to build up into downright dangerous conditions.  Hopefully, some of you KY locals will chime in here.

I had a torney there last year and made a run. Well then the wind picked up later in the day and if it hadnt laid down for 20 min I would have been in trouble. I was out in the wind for a couple minutes and I was very close to being totaly airborne.

We are looking for a few speakers during the evening get-to-gathers.  If any of you attendees would like to stand on the podium for five minutes or so and talk about fishing related issues, then please PM me with your subject matter.  Who knows?  You may become a Hollywood star!

I need to know how many folks will be attending the Monday night burger cook-out.  Since I am apparently unable to start a poll within an ongoing thread, please go to the Everything Else board and respond to my poll.  Thanks

You pretty much said it Mike. It's even dangerous in a 21 ft. bass boat, yes even in a Ranger. ::) I lost a cousin 2 years ago due to high winds on the lake. If it gets over 20 mph out of the south or north.

Don't get worried though. The bay that the Moor's is located in is as big as most lakes and hold plenty of fish. It is protected from high winds in most spots. Another thought is that you can always load up and drive over the dam to Barkley. The north end of Barkley runs east and west. It's where I go when the wind gets up on Ky. and I'll probably be doing a lot of fishing over there anyway. Barkley has more shallow cover than Ky. ;)
