I love fishing Lucky Strike (Renegade) worms. You know, the ones on the bottom shelf at Wal-Mart for $1.50? They have a very sweet smell to them. Almost like a candy scent.

Could that candy-like scent be the reason they work so well for me? If so, I could theoretically make my own scent from things like Kool-Aide (don't laugh) and other things to give plastic worms an attractive scent.

Wonder if that would work..sure would beat the smell of garlic. Maybe I could learn to eat garlic bread again! (hahahaha)

I use 9 inch jelly worms occasionally and they produce pretty well and the smell of them makes it that much better.

One you guys ought to try is Chomper's 4" DS worm. This thing will fill your boat with the GARLIC smell! Awful stuff! But it sure catches smallies!

Anything by Chompers wreaks of garlic.  I left a jig trailer on my rod and when I put my rods in my truck, the ride home was terrible.  I had to air out my truck.

I haven't seen that color option.

Funny thing about Renegades, the colors seem to vary depending on what part of the country you are in.  In North Arkansas I can get up to 6 colors.  If I go to South Arkansas I can get 8 or more and totally different colors.

I'll be sure to look for those to add to the selection.  Right now, I'm loving Junebug because it works in all water clarity (stained, mud, clear, etc.)

I often poke through their $0.97 bin, with the Riverside packs and the YUM samplers while getting dog food and occasionally find something in there. I dont honestly remember ever seeing packs like that, hmmmm.... Maybe they dont carry them at the stores up here (WI)? Will have to keep my eyes peeled for them now!

They are made by Luck E Strike.  The company is in South Missouri and you can request a catalog and then order direct from them.  It's a pretty extensive catalog selection.  It's printed on a few sheets of paper but there are tons of colors and all kinds of jig heads, tube jigs, lizards, worms, etc.

Charlies Worms, out of FL, scents their baits with a strawberry scent.  I only find them in FL, and stock up when I'm down there.  I get straight worms and some 8 inch traditional worms.  They work as good as anything Zoom puts out.  The scents probably don't do anything for the fish, but they smell a heck of a lot better than powerbait, gulp, or chompers.

Renegade worms have anise oil on them.  That's the reason for the sweet smell.  It hides human scents good when you handle the Renegade worms.

Anise oil has been around for a long time & have been used since I started fishing in the late 80's.

There's a bid debate about anise oil and how it can be harmful to fish or something like that.  Garlic scented sprays use anise oil I believe.  There are those that swear anise oil is the attractant.

That's another one of Dr. Keith Jones's misconceptions where in he swears anise oil repels bass which I can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt is absolutely wrong.  

Manns Jelly Worms have been around for like 50 years.they have strawberry,grape,cherry,blueberry is my fav .caught many,many bass using these worms.Manns probly have the most "flavors'.they still have them for sale on the net.

Years ago I used Producto Tournament Black Grape that smelled sweet too. Used to tear em up in Pennsylvania. I recently ordered a couple 20 count bags of their 6" ones. Can't wait to try them these days.
