Speedy Madewell and I will be featured next Saturday

on the premier edition of a new regional fishing show.

I'll post a link next week if you want to tune in.

As far as the fishing went...Well, we didn't get on the

river until 11:00 due to heavy rain and severe thunderstorms.

I fished artificials until 2:00 without a strike, my partners

boated twelve smallmouth, including a couple of 4+ and a 5+.

At 2:05 I landed my first brown, probably a little shy of the

big bass the guys caught earlier. We stopped fishing around

4:00 to finish the show. Twenty-two bronzebacks in total and

I managed a few.

Sunday I had plans with my family (birthday). Speedy met

his clients at the ramp around 7:00. He called me from his

home at 4:30, which was pretty odd. Turns out his party

went through three pounds of minnows before 2:00 and were

ready for beers! In thirty years of fishing the Tennessee River,

this was Speedy's "Best Day Ever" and he never wet a hook!

Thirty-two smallmouth, eight over 5lbs, the big fish was 6 1/2.

I don't think these two clients had ever caught a smallmouth.

Nice start, huh?

Pretty cool!

Now that you mention it- You were also absent on my best day ever... coincidence??? Maybe/Maybe not! ;D ;D just kidding!

That's crazy.  I've had honest 100+ fish days, bet never those sizes.  One in the 4# class would be a really good fish.  That's either the perfect storm of fishing, or one healthy fishery (probably both :)).

Lots of rain recently and a cool summer has resulted

in an early start to the season. Mid-October is a more

typical starting time frame. Knock on wood, it doesn't

need to get better!

WOW, Speedy really hammered the smallies!

Can I assume he was fishing the tailwaters of Pickwick?

BTW: I'll be looking forward to that link.

Roger

Can't wait for the link!  I bet those clients of his that had never caught a smallie before are hooked like crack addicts after an outing like that!!!

Nice report RW....You live in Bronzeback Heaven, "Lucky Dog"  ;D  And it seems that your water is improving every year
