Most versatile oz. weight for rubber jigs?

Featured Replies

In your opinion for:

1.) Largemouths

2.) Smallies

My opinion:

1.) 3/8 oz

2.) 1/2 oz, seeing how they are usually in deeper water and i want that faster drop rate to get to them

Special situations:

if i'm going to swim a jig, i'll go for a finesse 1/4 oz.

if i'm flipping into heavy cover, i'll go for a 5/8 oz or larger depending on the cover

It's pretty sad. I'm fishing a jig about 50% of the time and at any given time I never have under 100 jigs in my boat. Worst part is I only use 7 different colors...  :-[

3/8-1/2 is what I use most.

Colors are black/blue and pbj.  that consists of 99% of my jig fishing.

Same here.

3/8 -1/2. 3/4 if I'm fishing deep and fish are active and want a faster retrieve. Cliche but use the lightest you can get away with.

3/8, 1/2 oz that 's what I fish the most.

usually carry a few each of 1/8, 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2.

got one lake have caught three 10# ers from the last four years...all three on 1/8 bitsy bugs...in those four years, have not caught one fish with 1/4 or above.

got another lake where you can catch a world of keepers but, those keepers won't touch anything under 3/8.

it ain't always about depth or speed.
