Spinnerbait trailers.

Featured Replies

I typically do not use trailers. But, I picked up KVD's video on spinnerbaits and he suggests uses a grub type trailer for stained to muddy water for more bulk. If we ever get rain again here in MD, I'll be trying it! Hope this helps!

I also use a curly tail grub as a trailer.  I use twin tail grubs when I can find them.  I tend to use orange, red or bright yellow especially when fishing for northern pike.  These work for bass also.

Sometimes. sometimes not. I generally will use a curly tail trailer when I use one, but somethimes a split trailer and even craw or lizards have produced for me. When using a lizard as a trailer, be sure to pinch it in half. You only use the last half (back legs and tail) when using as a spinnerbait trailer.

I think it works simply because it gives the bass something different to see.

I like to use curly tailed and twin tailed grubs on spinnerbaits.  I will also use a #11 or a #1 pork frog.  I tend to use the pork frog when I want the bait to fall very slowly.  I fishing bubby of mine uses a 6" and sometimes a 8" plastic worm.

Yep, I like the grub trailer. I use it on a jig head spinnerbait. Works especially well at night

I usually start with a twin tail Yamamoto Grub, but if it tears or is lost, I never replace it. I catch just as many bass without a trailer. The only thing a trailer adds is bulk and weight. Maybe I can cast just a little further, but the bass I've caught aren't any bigger when fishing with a trailer.

I use one in dirty water to create more bulk and vibrations. That's about the only time cause I don't like to use one.

I used to use one but got out of the habit.  I do use a trailer hook more often than not.

I once fished Lake Mead with a white spinnerbait without luck, added a small white curl tail grub as a trailer and couldnt keep the bass off the hook. Not sure, but I think the added action was all it took to turn-em on. Have used trailers ever since.

I've always used some type of trailer, whether it be a grub, or twin tail grub.  Mainly because the water i fish is usually fairly dirty. Maybe i'll have to try without and compare the results

I almost never use a trailer.  I have a ton of them along with trailer hooks......they always stay in my spinnerbait bag.
