First visit to BPS !

Featured Replies

I've got to go to Jackson tomorrow(2-3-06) to finalize my paperwork with the state retirement system.I'll be officially retired from teaching and coaching(26 years,Arrgggh) on March 31,2006(just in time for Spring bassin').Afterwards I'm going to the new BPS there for the first time! I'm stoked!I'm ,for sure ,gonna buy a lot of those baits that I read about here and in Bassmaster mag,FLW Outdoors,Etc.Any suggestions on some fine Spring time baits sold at BPS?I'll let ya know about my haul tomorrow night.Tight Lines to all,RR

Lucky you!I'm still waiting on my $bonus check$ from work(should be next week) to make my trip to BPS to stock up.You should at least look at the Rapala DT Flats,I've already got some, couldnt resist and they are sweet! Those cold bass in the spring like the tight wiggle of a flat crank. You can either get them with the regular trebles or the Fritts sure-set trebles(which I bought and like).

Be sure to think about us "working stiffs" tomorrow while you're drooling all over the lures down there. ;)

Have fun RR.

Theres a new bait out by berkely. its called the Berkley PowerBait BladeDancer. its qualities sum up that of hardbaits, jigs, grus, etc. Oh if your going to BPS, it WONT be hard to find it. there will be a dedicated section to that lure, with a damned video showing its qualites.

you can always visit www.berkleyfishing.com and click on the bladedancer icon to the left...and watch the video for yourself!

Watch out my friend, lures n 'stuff stick to you as you walk through the aisles ( magnetism ?  :-? ), every time I 've been there my wallet comes out pretty light  :-/, ya know what I mean.  ;)

saaaame bro, but this one actually works

First of all, congrats on your retirement.  Your a young guy so I assume you'll do something productive, but It sure is nice to get that check every month.

Bass pro doesn't have a huge lure assortment.  They have gotten very diversified with clothing and hunting etc.  Be that as it may, it is still a big boys toy store.

I would check out the Lucky crafts.  If you don't have the pointer 78 you simply must get a couple in sp and dd. Other LC lures are just as tempting.  I don't think BPS has any of the other top line Japanese imports like evergreen, or megabass, but Lucky Crafts will do

Congrats on your retirement. The first time I went to Bass Pro in Orlando I didn't know where to start. They have so much to look at that you may leave with about 2 bags full. Good luck fishing and have fun at Bass Pro.

TUBES, TUBES, and more TUBES!!! ;). Also don't forget to look at the new Rapala DT-Flats and all the new X-Calibur baits. But be careful, I went to a BPS 3 weeks ago and spent every dime I had, but hey don't look at the money lost just look at the savings ;).

Congratulations!

LC Rick Clunn series are on sale for $10.99. I haven't fished them, but I just ordered a couple of the 2.5 & 3.5 yesterday.

Congrats on retirement, I love tank feeding days at BPS.

Matt

Have fun Rattlinrogue!

I'm heading to the BPS store in Gurnee Mills, Illinois tomorrow.  My wife has a friend that lives 5 miles from there.  I've been there a handful of times & it's like the coolest place if you're a fisherman.

I've also been to the BPS store in Las Vegas.  Now that one is too cool.  What more can you ask for, a fishing store w/ a casino attached to it.

Let us know how your experience is at BPS, & what you've bought.

Concrats on your retirement  :) I'm sure you might have a hobby or two to keep from being bored ;) Buy something for me anything will do & when you catch your first of many on it, think of us less fortunate ;D I drove by bps at Pearl  a few weeks ago, couldn't stop though at work oops there is that awful word really Best of LUCK in ALL YOU DO

Congratulations!

I have an LC RC1.5.  It's a good bait with a pretty decent sized profile.  I assume you went with the 2.5. and 3.5 because of your "biguns or bust" policy? Or is their something about the larger sizes that you think makes them a better choice?

congrats on the retirement and some advice for a first timer to bps, the baitmonkey is going to grab hold of you and not turn you lose. Take your wife my man to help control you if not you might have come out of retirement after all the money you spend there if you go by yourself

Rogue?????  Where ya at?

I think we might have a problem here.  I think the bait monkey has taken him captive and sold his house, cars, boat, computer, etc .......everything.  But I bet he is sitting on the corner of a street somewhere with some pretty sweet gear.  ;D

No really, How'd you make out?

Not to worry. My wife had me on a leasch(SIC).Between my wife and my yougest son(who is a hunting freak),I barely made a dent.I did manage to buy some 3X plastics and some strike king tubes that are hard to find where I live.Boy,that is a toy store, ain't it? I felt like an Irishman at a beer factory(you Irish dudes don't get mad.I'm one too!)It was a great experience, and I'll be going back soon with only the bait monkey and a credit card as company.I fell in love with a metallic green and white Nitro 750.I'll be riding in that in a year or two(soon as I get two kids graduated from college). It was great and I hope to really tear 'em up on the next visit.Tight Lines to all,RR
