I like em all  ;)

A few years back I went on vacation to Northern Ohio, along the way I would purposely drive close enough to get a look at many of the infamous bass lakes this nation has to offer.

I would love to fish em all and the go abroad  ;)

Well, I've seen a lot of pretty lakes, ponds, pits, etc... From Florida, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee... I guess my favorite would be my local big lake which is only 1/2 mile from my home. It's Lk Ariana in Central Fl. It's about 7 miles around it (from what I remember) and it pretty much  a bowl shaped lake. It has depths as deep a 30' according to the depth finder. My largest came from this lake in '98 and she was 13.1 lbs! Here's a pic from Friday when I went fishing.

Since this is limited to lakes we've been on, my choice is Merrill Creek Reservoir in western New Jersey. And only because it's an Environmental Preserve. Sometimes I completely stop fishing just to enjoy the scenic view and vast variety of wildlife, including the nesting bald eagles.

Mauch Chunk, the small lake Muddy picked, is also beautiful for its wildlife and surrounding area. Mauch (rhymes with "talk") Chunk is an old Indian name meaning "sleeping bear." The area was sacred to the Native Americans who once lived here. The area is now referred to as the Switzerland of America, and the town of Mauch Chunk has been renamed Jim Thorpe after the the great native American athlete who is now buried there.  And several years ago, when the USA olympic 8 men/wonen crewing teams practiced on the lake, was sure a sight to see.

As for Greenwood Lake NJ/NY having those large float planes landing in the water right next to your boat while you're fishing just turns me off from the place.

my choice is Merrill Creek Reservoir in western New Jersey.

Around 1990, a couple years before leaving New Jersey, I took my daughter and son-in-law to Merrill Creek Reservoir.

It had just opened to the public, and there were no accomodations just a slag-rock road and a big cyclone fence at the entrance.

We were just shore-fishing, but had fun catching countless TINY largemouth and smallmouth bass mixed together.

The hadn't established their location yet and were everywhere around the lake's perimeter.

I often wonder what Merrill Creek Reservoir looks like today (used to deer-hunt that area too).

MY favorite is an almost undeveloped lake in central NH, plenty of LM SM and everything else. With every type of structure every couple hundred yards. Surrounded by the mountains I rarely see anyone else on it even in the height of summer in a weeks time.

Wow Zel Im sorry to here that about Greenwood Lake That was a rare occurance,(Life Flights and such) when I was younger!
