Different slang names for big bass  :-)

Featured Replies

When you stick a big one, and your talking to your buddies about it, what do you call it ?

I guess I most often refer to a big one, as a pig. But sometimes a monster, a fatty, or a hawg.

Of course their is the sow, the lunker, the toad......

Help me out here. I'm sure their must be a hundred more :-)

There have been a few times, after battling for what seems like a really long time - that I end up calling it catfish >

  • 12 year old Fish Chris thread, interesting reviewing this old thread with very little new terms added. Ike ruined "it's a giant" the term I used for DD bass over 15 lbs, Ike calls anything over 1

Big momma.

Football is a good one

When I catch a big one and am telling someone about it, I usually just refer to it as a "huge fish".

Still waiting for the day when I can (truthfully) talk about the "RIDICULOUSLY GIGANTIC FISH" I caught, while referring to a bass   ;)

If we're talking about the fish in your avatar, I'd probably refer to it as a "freak of nature" ;D

Or a "freakishly gargantuan fish"

f****** huge one. bucketmouth. monster

I dont usually spazz until the fish is in the boat and in the livewell. Then I start freaking out,  , or singing its PB&J Time. I dont really have a name for a big fish. Matty 5.0 has THE BEST "freak out" when he hooks into a fish.

pig, toad, donkey, gorilla, fatty, giant,  i like the term basketball instead of football for those obese prespawn fish.

but my favorite, which i have only deemed necessary to use on a fish that I did not land: Leviathan

Basszilla

Prego Mommo

Both halves of the picture Avid took ;D

My Personal Favorite: THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY

Down south they are called Hawgs because a Hog is bigger than a Pig  ;)

A nice fish can be a pig, but a great fish is a Hawg!

Generally, I like to refer to them as "Fat Girls"   8-)

Big Girl, Lunker, Fattie, Big B**ch, Fat Bass

I'm with RW, I like "fat girls". Why? Because they need love too.

Ya,but the fish was on there before I got snagged up,I swear!

Come on guys, you can do better than this.  I've been fishing less than a year and I call 'em

STUDS   ---  AS IN  "Holy crap!"  "This one feels like a STUD"

BUTTERBALLS  --- As in when you are fishing near thanksgiving and pull a 13 pounder on the boat and say, "Look at the freaking BUTTERBALL!!"

BRUISERS--- As in when you have a 9 minute fight with a 16 pounder, and after landing her you feel your arms aching and say, "d**n, this ***** is a bruiser"

MOBEY DICKS-- As in when you hook a 14 pounder on 6 pound test, and she goes under your bass boat and tries to tip the boat over.  She's a "Mobey Dick"

CHUNK BOXES--- When you land a 17 pounder and she has a freshly swallowed 7 pound ducking in her belly, she's a "Chunk Box"

BEEFERS -  Same as a "Chunck Box" except she is full of eggs and a freshly swallowed 5 pound trout.

BULLS ---  10+ pounder that jumps and bucks and gets at least 2 feet out of the water 9 times on the way to the boat.

JELLY BELLYS -  Completely self explanitory

BLUBBER BUTTS - Again, self explanitory

BIG SHOTS---  A 25+ pounder who roams and patrols a large lake, or body of water, swimming like she owns it.  She scares all the other bass and fish in the area, and is smarter than many accountants.  When you catch a "Big Shot" you know it.  They will never stop pulling, and can swallow a small goat.  A "big shot"  takes you deep into heavy cover if you ever catch one and has the strength to pull a 100 pound water skiier over a mile. (I've only caught 5 of these in my life)

Matty 5.0 has THE BEST "freak out" when he hooks into a fish.

;D ;D ;D

Usually "It's a big b@tch"

or " Big Kahuna Tuna" as my man Rick likes to say.....
