What are your fishing STRENGTHS?

Featured Replies

Balance - I have never fallen in the water.

And I have only hooked myself once.

Lol i think i've fallen in a few times, and i've definetly hooked myself more than once.  Yup i do believe those can be considered weaknesses for me!  ;D

Fishing Strengths?? Hmmm....

Oh yeah, one time I tail-roped a 110-lb bluefin tuna,

then hauled that slob football over the gunwale by myself.

The ability to never let the truth interfere with a good fishing story.

Always open to try something new. (The bait monkey loves me)

Willingness to keep fishing despite poor results. (This doesn't happen very often anymore)

Ability to read water.(I fish mostly in rivers, so it's not that hard to learn)

#1 confidence. I am pretty well rounded . I am comfortable with all baits, look at every body of water like it has bass waiting for me to catch them. They just me make find them. There are ways that I would prefer to fish but sometimes you have to fish the way the fish want you to!

LowBudget,

Recognizing, interpreting, and adapting to, conditions.

I've never won a trophy, but then it's only me out there. I tried the trophy thing but I felt silly presenting it to myself. I still have it, am proud of it, but I feel bad when I do get skunked and have to take it away from myself. I was Rookie of the Year once, but that only happens once in my circuit.

Versatility and experience.  Even though I'm only 25, I have about 23 years of hardcore fishing experience to lean on.  Bass, crappie, cats, bream, specs, and reds.  Because of that experience, I've learned how to read conditions and fish most types of lures.  I can hang and bang on most structures and conditions with a variety of techniques.  Moving to TX has helped a lot.  Now I have experience in clear, stained, and muddy water.  Deep or shallow, rocky or swampy, I've seen a lot of different situations.

To deflate my own ego, I'd say my weakness is lure selection.  I show a lot of favoritism towards jigs and T-rigs, even when I know they aren't the best lures for the job.  I'm not a fan of crankbaits or spinnerbaits, so I'll try swimming jigs before I even consider tying anything else on.  Thank god that works most of the time.

T-rigged plastics.  Top water baits.

1 - Patience - I don't give up - I try a new lure or move if I need to

2 - Preparation -I know the body of water I am fishing - the conditions, etc.

3 - Perseverance - There's always hope for one more fish..one more sweet spot...

Whether I catch any or not, I always appreciate being out on the water.  Every time I fish, it is an opportunity to learn and grow. ;)

~My weakness would be my inexperience..which I am working on~ :)

Frogs, T-Rigs, Jerkbaits, and Topwater presentation

Good at finding productive areas quickly.

1) Being able to think outside the box.

2) Always keeping an open mind.

3) Great eyesight, and knowing what to look for.

4) Patience.

5) Persistence.

6) I'm good at playing big fish, once I stick a hook in one..... and I almost never get nervous, or shaky "until after" I put a big one in the boat :-)

Peace,

Fish

#1 How I can observe conditions and my surroundings and make decisions.

#2 How I feel comfortable and confident both power and finesse fishing. I can run up a cold muddy creek and pitch a jig and fish a spinnerbait around brush. Then go out into the main lake and drop-shot or shakey head in deep clear water.

*chuckling*

Well, since being such a newbie...
