One Piece of Advice

Featured Replies

If you could only give 1 piece of advice to a beginner angler what would it be? or what is the best advice you ever recieved about bass fishing?  It can be about a philsophy, tactic or anything else.

Mine would be something my grandpa always told me, If you do what you did, you'll get what you got.  This applies for scenerios when you are or are not catching fish and I always try to remember that.

It's not about having the fastest boat, the most tackle, or the best set-up.

It's all about having fun.

What ever floats your boat, to each his own.

Fishing is for fun, catching is a bonus!

Don't worry about what everyone else is doing, where they are fishing, or what they are using.  Find your own fish, where they are and what they are biting.

Enjoy your time on the lake. Remember, A bad day of fishing, is better than a good day of work.

slow down, relax and enjoy the scenery. if you catch a fish be happy don't wish it was bigger.

Don't get frustrated keep at it. That's why it's called fishing not catching.

just make sure no matter how tough it is you always have fun. If you aren't having fun, just go home because you should only be out there if you want to be

The best piece of advice I feel that can ever be given to a bass angler is this one thing:

There is no such thing as fishing too slow. Just when you think "Man, I am fishing this bait kinda slow...", slow down some more.

I am not the most patient fisherman in ther world sometimes, but I have started to pay more heed to this advice in recent months and I am starting to feel like it is making a difference in the numbers and quality of fish I am catching. :)

Don't try to take on too much all at once. Learn to master one, MAYBE, two techniques before moving on to another.

Thanks modydick for the pic

Read the beginner articles. A few members offered this advice and I have learned a lot because of it.

Persistence

Be patient. You won't always catch a fish. Concentrate on the cast you are making, not any future casts.
