What to do with "old" tackle?

Featured Replies

I have a lot of tackle that I've accumulated (soft plastics mainly) that I'd like to get rid of, but I don't know what to do with it.  I could easily just throw it away and be done with it, but I'd rather give it away to someone that might have a use for it -- youth fishing organizations, etc.  Anybody have any suggestions?

Welcome aboard!

We have lots of young anglers. Decide how many packages you

want to mail and have members under 18 send you PMs. You select

the winners, notify them via PM and have them send a mailing

address to you.

** NOTE **

You cannot use the PM function until you have 10 posts.

See if there any bass clubs in your area that have "junior" members.

A club around here also collects unused tackle and puts on a raffle to raise funds for the club.

Maybe you could put on a brief presentation for a boys/girls club and then give the participants some tackle to take home

Respectfully asked... shouldn't you be hooking up your son?

Most local Fish & Game Clubs in your area can lead you to youth groups who would be more than happy to take that stuff off your hands. And, of course, there's always the Boys Club.  :)

First of all, Foo-G, welcome to the community!  There are a number of things you can do with old baits.  I think the suggestions to provide them to young anglers and youth organizations are great.  Also, keep in mind that old baits that aren't used by anglers anymore can sometimes be a hot ticket on a highly-pressured reservoir because the bass are no longer familiar with them.

I melt them and pour them into molds of lures that i want! saves money and i dont have to keep buying my favorite lures.
