I have never used a spinnerbait or crankbait... All i know is worms and jigs ... right now i have that set up and technique down... I am ready to learn a new method and wonder which should be my next step: spinnerbait or crankbait... and please say what is ur favorite spinner or crank depending on what u think should be my next move

Why not get both?   :-?  You have really been missing out on a lot of fish if you've never tried either.  Browse threads for spinner and crank ideas.  I like strike king spinnerbaits and rapala DT cranks.

My favorite spinnerbait is my own. I pour and paint my own this way I can customize, my color, weight, blades and skirt color to what I want, which is unavailable at the store. My crankbait of choice is Husk Jerk in spring and the Shad Rap, Berkley Frenzy and Bandit throughout the rest of the year.

You should run out right now and get a few bill norman fat boys. That has been my most productive crankbait. Any booyah or stanley spinnerbait would be nice for starters.Willow blade /clear water  Colorado blade/muddy stained water.Have fun!

Try them both, they're both great lures. I'd start with a tandem spinnerbait about 3/8 oz. and a crankbait that runs at the depth you want to fish. You can go nuts worrying about brands, especially since you're new to these baits. Countless brands work well, just get something and get them wet.

On a medium power fast action rod you can throw light spinnerbaits (1/4 oz) and cranks.  Go for both!  I love the 1/4 oz Terminator spinnerbaits in a shad color.  As far as cranks go - I like the rebel crawdad (got some in med and deep) in the spring.  I like spinnerbaits because they are pretty weedless, are versatile and catch a lot of fish.  Best of luck!

you need to learn both...they are flip sides of the same tip-down coin.

especially, if you have the tip-up part down pat.

Throw some lip less cranks like a r trap for starters. You can work them shallow or deep and you can throw um a mile. Same with spinnerbaits. Same with spinnerbaits. Very versitle shallow or deep 8-)

i went ahead and picked up a fat boy Nutter Shad color and a DT06 shad color ... hopefully ill have some luck this spring/summer with em

I'd go pick up some bandit cranks. Very productive and only 5 dollars!

I use Strike King and Booyah spinnerbaits.  Both seem to work well.  An easy to use, and very productive (for me) crankbait is Rapala's DT-Fat 3.  I have it in a few colors, my favorite being chartreuse firetiger.  Big bass seem to love this thing...along with a few toothy critters I've caught along the way...

If your getting adventuresome, and you have a combo for spinnerbaits & cranks, why not throw a topwater every so often.  Last year it took me about 15 minutes to learn to "walk the dog" with a Rapala SkitterWalk.  I found it made a great compliment to cranks.  The SkitterWalk is often the first lure I throw in the morning.

Because I fish mostly in shallow water, I like shallow diving cranks like Mann's Baby Minus 1 and Bandit Footloose.

This year Spinnerbaits & Jigs will be my areas of concentration.

new here but been bass fishing since 89  ,,, id get dt cranks obvious fishing depth,,,id secondly use a buzaz bait they are the most fun and when time is right are deadly

If you don't have spinnerbaits in your box/bag GET EM! these are an awsome year round - Deep / Shallow bait.

I use Kvd's Strike King series the ones with 2 hooks.

its hard for me to believe that you have never fished a spinner or crank  i dont know how you could stand it not to.   how old are you

I used spinnerbaits all last year from the spring and into the fall. Caught lots of bass and the occasional northern or two. They are great baits that can be run shallow or deep. Fast or slow. I would recommend getting some. I use Strikeking spinnerbaits but Terminator and Booyah are good as well.

My go to bait is a spinnerbait. Been fishing them since the beginning. I have a lot of confidence in them and they are very versatile. I Have many different name brands but tend to fish a lot of Strike Kings.

Booyah makes great spinnerbaits for the money.  Norman's Deep Little N is a KILLER crankbait if the fish are holding in the 6 - 10 ft. range.  The biggest thing with a crankbait is, you have to maintain bottom contact all the time.  You want that bait "banging" around on the rocks and stumps.  The only time you don't want this is if you're fishing a super-shallow crank like Mann's baby 1- .  The best way to learn to fish spinners and cranks is to leave all your other tackle at home, and make yourself fish with them.

I too didn't throw spinnerbaits or crankbaits until just this year. Done perfectly fine without throwing them, but just picking them up to have fun with new baits.

I really like Booyah spinners for the money, they are resonable in price and quality.  For cranks all I have really fished is a lipless rattle trap.  I will be fishing cranks more this spring, hopefully with a better result. :-[

eather one you will have a blast   when they hit that spinner or crank it will make your blood boil   good luck  and you will enjoy

deffinitly get both but if you wanna just start with one spinnerbaits are much easier to learn how to use than crankbaits
