I can't stand him. He can't fish but yet he claims he can, I only see him catching dinks too.  I try watchig his show but can't manage to leave it on. We get one New England fishing show and get stuck with Charlie Moore, no wonder why all the southern guys think we only have dink bass! ::)

I was jerking your chain there. ;) I don't generally mix beer w/ fishing, but from the two times I saw the Charlie Moore show, it seemed more about just being a goof with fishing as the backdrop, and less about being a pro fisherman.

I don't mind you yanken my chain. At my age it's the nearest thing I have to a sex life. anybody got a cigarette ::):D ;D

Hmmmm. I don't watch very much fishing on TV in the first place. Sometimes I'll stop on a fishing program, then use it for background noise while I surf the net. But the couple times I tried that with the Charlie Moore show, I had to change the channel, as I could not even listen to the guy talk.

Anyway...

Fish

I've watched his show a few times, both the NESN show and the ESPN "Beat Charlie Moore."  Is he a tool?  Heck yes.  Is he entertaining?  Well, that depends on what you call entertainment.  There are moments when I do actually enjoy watching, but those are few and far between, and its usually when he's being self depricating, which again, happens rarely.

The biggest problem I have is the way he hucks and shills the Red Sox and Patriots SOOOOOO much.  Make the show more about fishing and less about how great New England sports teams are, and maybe I'd watch a bit more...

(P.S.- I'm not trying to start a sports flame-war, but you also don't see Jimmy Houston or Bill Dance using 1/3 of their time talking about other sports...)

I never under stood the big thing with Bill Dance, other than he is  clumsy. I don't think that I've seen him fishing on a real lake. He looks to be mostly on private lake's and ponds that are inhabited with only huge bass. Lots of talent there!

ROTF...Gross!  ;D

I'm not saying that he isn't a legend, and yes I have learned some techniques from him and he is a great ambassador for the sport. I just would like to see him fish more "real" bodies of water. Just about anyone can catch huge fish if that is pretty much the only thing swimming in the water. I would rather watch Bill over Charlie any day of the week.

I've noticed it seems like he has switched to salt water fishing too. Does he still have a bass fishing show?

Summary:

Bill Dance is a legend. Look at his tournament history.

Bill is TEACHING, not trying to impress anyone.

In order to teach, he must CATCH fish.

If he didn't catch fish, people would ask, "why should I do that, Bill didn't catch anything doing it.

That is what Bill's show is all about.

OK, I'm finished.

Once again I didn't say he wasn't a legend.

Why can't he teach on a Real body of water, maybe he should teach that bass come in more sizes than XXXXX large. To me it"s like watching one of those lure ads where they are fishing in a fish tank full of very hungry bass going "look how many bass bit my lure on one cast".

I see KVD on TV teaching certain techniques and we all know he is a legend too, and yet he catches everything from dinks to hogs. Guess what? I pay attention cause its real fishing.

"If he didn't catch fish,  people would ask, "why should I do that,  Bill  didn't catch anything doing it."

Then you have people like me saying Why should I do That? Bills fishing in a private pond, not on a real lake.

OK, I'm done stirring the pot.

i will watch it, but i find he is a pretty bad fisherman. he fishes like i did when i was about 13 years old.

What's entertaining about an obnoxious New Englander who catches dinks all day?

Charlie sure gets a lot of attention on this forum. He must be doing something right.

I guess you could say that about Rod Blagojevic too.  Not!!!!! ;)

The guy sincerely is an embarrassment to any self-respecting New-Englander.  He is a walking stereotype; very sad indeed.

Saw his show the first time last weekend. I had to change the channel because I wanted to hang myself

  • 2 weeks later...
Ahh...the codfather...anybody who has his hair professionaly styled in a salon before going fishing loses all credability as far as Im concerned

lmao!

Here..Here..Bass Bratt.

He sure does get a lot of attention.

I will watch his shows some...whatever.

Who cares what anyone else watches.

Let's Go Fishing!

(I didn't read the 5 pages prior, nor care to. When folks here have a show...I will watch it to.) When it's winter...I'll watch what ever I can that's related to fishing, or people fishing.

PEACE OUT "BLUE DOLPHIN" ----

i think its decent sometimes but the one where he was on a inflatable pool boat on a golf pond made me wanna burn my tv but hes ok

I can't believe he's still on the air.
